When it all began...
Elisabeth Ashlie Jewelry began in July of 2010 on a hot and humid evening in Raleigh, North Carolina. Two sisters, Lauren and Kate, raided their local craft store's jewelry supply section in an attempt to recreate a necklace they found at a popular retail store. They were convinced that they could do it - "how hard can it be?!", they thought. With an incredibly creative mom, they knew that creativity was in their blood. Sure enough, they stayed up until about 3 AM the first night creating necklaces and earrings for the first time. They were instantly hooked. About a month's worth of very late nights spent making jewels, watching Friday Night Lights, and eating way too many Sour Punch Straws, Elisabeth Ashlie Jewelry was officially open for business on Etsy! With the support of wonderful friends and family, they started filling orders from customers that they didn't know personally - it was so exciting! Before they knew it, this little hobby turned into a full-fledged part-time job for each of them. Attending and participating in craft shows, creating custom orders for brides, and re-stocking their shop became a big part of their lives. And they loved every second of it!
Elisabeth Ashlie was owned and operated jointly by Kate and Lauren until the fall of 2013, when Kate decided it was time to hand the business over to Lauren (she was expecting her first child in December and was trying to clear some room in her life!). Lauren reluctantly "fired" her (Kate refused to leave unless she was fired, much to Lauren's chagrin) and took over the business as her own. She loves owning and operating it, but definitely misses having her partner maintaining the shop with her!
So, there you have it! It's a simple story with (hopefully) no end in sight! The girls never imagined they'd make jewelry one day, but it became one of their favorite things to do together!
Elisabeth Ashlie now operates out of Chicago, IL, where Lauren moved after living in North Carolina for a few years. On top of managing the shop, Lauren has her own life and style blog (www.thelaurenelizabeth.com) that she enjoys maintaining.
Lover of all things gold. Kate Spade enthusiast. Mildly obsessed with her two orange cats. Blogger/shop owner by day, sleeper by night (and by day - i love naps).

What materials do you use?
Unless otherwise noted, all of the findings (ear wires, wire, chain, etc.) used in the creation of our jewelry is plated. Plated findings typically have a brass core, with a thin layer of the metal color that you see on top. This means that it will tarnish (become a brown color; wear out) over time. We use plated materials to keep our prices as low as they are. To properly care for your jewelry, store each item in a closed container and away from other jewelry. Also, try to avoid letting your jewelry come in contact with water or extreme moisture. If you'd like something upgraded to sterling silver or gold-filled, we would love to talk to you about the possibility of that!
