I attended Milwaukee Institute for Art and Design, majoring in fine art drawing and printmaking. Later, as the mother of seven children, I worked hard to bring beauty into my home, to create a safe and inspiring environment for my family.

I began my Animal Portrait series to help people connect with the amazing diversity found in the animal world. I carefully look for the essence of the animal to find the behavior or characteristics that set each species apart. I'm especially drawn to baby animals and mother animals interacting with their offspring. I return to the zoo often to be able to capture the tender or humorous expressions that often occur.

I also love to experiment and explore nature which has led me to create my Flowers in Ice series. Flowers contain oxygen which is released during the freezing process creating bubbles and movement as the ice slowly surrounds them. This transformation is unpredictable. In these floral portraits, I share my excitement of discovering what my collaboration with nature has created.

My photographs are often just the beginning. I love experimenting with ideas and concepts. Photoshop and Procreate help me play with my images. Exploring color, working with mixed media, combining photography and drawing, using both traditional and digital tools all help to create my artwork. By modifying the colors of an animal or using digital tools to turn it into a painting, I am able to combine several of these painting layers to help convey a story or create an emotional connection.
