You will no doubt find my designs unlike any other pressed flower work that you have seen. My materials are treated for lasting color and invisibly bonded beneath a transparent covering that is my secret. This enables me to use delicate greens and flowers without fear they will dry or break up.

I gather and press my own materials, some from my gardens, some from roadsides, fields and woodlands. Some appear in natural color, some are painted to suit the design.

Each piece is accompanied by a descriptive card.

I have noticed that visitors to my shop often browse my sold orders. Should you see something appealing there, I would be happy to do something very similar for you as a custom order.

If you are interested in my work, I will gladly send a small sample. Contact me!h

I asked Ellen to send this directly to my Mom for mothers day and not only did she wrap it and send it out in plenty of time, she sent a card with it. My Mom absolutely loved her gift! I would recommend this shop to everyone. Thank you so much Ellen!

About

Pressed flowers and botanicals fill my life!

I learned the art of pressing and working with flowers 40 years or so ago when a neighbor invited me to work in her pressed flower lampshade business. I began by taping lampshades, and never considered myself an artist. I do not paint and can hardly draw a recognizable stick. When she asked me to try designing, I was reluctant, but once I had mastered the techniques I found that I had an "eye" for arrangement and the flowers were willing to help me out.
When the business eventually left the state, I found that I missed working with the flowers and began pressing my own inventory. I have sold my designs in several fine shops over the years.
My process allows me to completely cover the flowers with an invisible film, and I color treat my materials. They will not fade or deteriorate.
My "studio" is my kitchen table where I sometimes work with
a tortie cat named Noodle who is convinced that she, too, could design if I'd just let her get her paws in that glue!
I am often asked what kind of flower press I use, and I always chuckle. Small flowers go into trusty telephone books with a lead weight on top. But my "press" for large quantities, such as a wildflower in season, is unique. My husband was once given an old handmade hammer with a very heavy chunk of iron or lead on a 30 inch pipe handle. It's original use is a mystery, as it is much too heavy to swing. The only use ever found for it was to break a stubborn bead on a tractor tire! With a flat, heavy board as a base I layer corrugated sheets and newspapers of flowers. I top my "sandwich" with another board, gather my strength, and apply the hammer to the stack. Whatever works, we say!
You would not likely be inspired by photos of Noodle and me creating at our newspaper-strewn kitchen table. Instead, I hope you will enjoy some of my favorite flower scenes from my yard and farm.
Thank you for stopping by!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards

Payment
I accept payment by Paypal, credit card or personal check.
Shipping
I generally ship USPS, as this is the most economical, and I charge only the actual shipping cost.. But rates have risen so that I find it hard to predict costs for a given item, and I am finding myself sharing my expected profit with the USPS. Here, therefor, is my new policy, which will help me and not increase the price for the customer:
11x14 frames will list at $20.00
8x10 at $15.00
5x7 at $10.00

This will cover the cost to the west coast from Connecticut, Costs to other areas will be less and I will refund the excess with your order. Or you can convo me for the exact cost and I will edit the listing for you
To illustrate my dilemma, a 3 pound package to California ships for $14.47, but for $7.09.

Priority shipments are insured to $100..
Refunds and Exchanges
I promise your satisfaction. If there is a problem, please contact me. I will gladly refund or exchange.
Additional policies and FAQs
I will consider custom orders on a time-available basis. You might, let us say, like a particular design but prefer another frame style. I can usually create a very similar piece.
