How one finds yourself suddenly going from disable artist to a Esty seller.
My Shop was started when I found there was a market for what had been just another hobby for someone with too many hobbies already.
Really Back when I got into beading I had no idea it would be anything but another hobby that would lead me into actually having an Business. All I planned was making an necklace and add some pearls to a costume I was working on for an convention I was going to attend in a few months.
I didn't get the whole costume done in time for the convention, but the seed was planted and soon I was buying more beads and supplies. A few Necklaces were made more supplies brought and my Boyfriend's work gave me their scrap copper sheets to recycle as jewelry. That copper is from repairs to the gun ports on the historic USS Constellation, meant I needed more tools and with money I inherited I was able to make my first Copper Tree Ornament..
And of course I had to buy more beads, this time round Jasper beads and soon I had all this jewelry and Boyfriend challenge me to start selling it.. Talking to my daughter, I discover an event were I could set up for a weekend.
Over those 3 days I found I have a market, for my jewelry and just needed a way people could find me online,.as many of the people there were interested in if I had an store on the Internet. The copper tree ornament was the first thing I sold and I could have sold more if only I had them available. I went home and got online to check out Etsy once I unpacked.
Now I been taking classes to improve my skills and expand my metalwork and started to work in Sterling silver.
ps grammar and spelling corrections are welcome, as I'm sure to have made a ton of them due to being dyslexic too.
