About

A Strange Start..

I started making dolls by chance..
I had recently moved to Ireland, where I spent a lot of time indoor (not only because of the unhappy weather) and this was one of those things in the drawer, I had to try out, soon or later. So, the time was kinda perfect. I remember it was a raining and dark winter afternoon and I started to play with some clay I bought few days before.. I still didn't know what I wanted to do..or what I could.. I just wanted to make something with long necks, something peculiar and kind of Tim Burton inspired. Well, the first doll didn't last much and also what followed..mostly because, I made them with an awful clay which cracked a lot, so I threw everything away but I started to figure, during these trials, what I wanted to make, so once changed the clay again, Maria was born, the first of my Strane Creature (meaning Strange Creatures in Italian, my native language). After that, I made too many in few months and I am always trying to learn and improve my results. I also changed recently, again, both clay and size and I love that the new clay allows me to make more detailed faces and the size is smaller, but maybe I will give a try to larger ones, who knows.
My dolls are strange, someone said they look creepy, some of them smile, some have melancholy expressions, but I find them beautifully peculiar and I love them so much, it's very difficult to me, putting them on sale, once they're ready.
I work hard on every piece and I bond a lot with each of them, during the process. Sometimes I work fast (it doesn't mean I put less work on the piece, but simply that I cannot stop sculpting, painting, until the doll is ready..this means hours over hours and days over days of long work) sometimes, the pieces take a little more, depending on the period.
I don't have a schedule, nor I take commission or custom orders. I work with bare hands on the inspiration of the moment and let the doll be, whatever or whoever she is. Once they're ready, I usually listen to their background story and will write it on their ID card and certification.. and put her in my shop, with opposing feelings.
I then go hunting some nice box for her journey and she's ready to fly to her new home..
I hope that you can appreciate my strange creatures and love their unique features.

Thank you for visiting my shop and thanks twice if you are going to adopt one of my quirky people!

The Whispering Blythe customs' story, too..

I already used to collect dolls, resin ball jointed dolls, to be precise, long ago and after a break from dolly world, lasted several years, I fell in love with them again..but this time,I wanted to bring home a doll I only knew about but never had the chance to see in person.. a Blythe! I was never too much fascinated by them, before. Any time I saw one in a picture, I felt no interest about.. but this time I had found out about custom blythes so I wanted to give it a go, myself..and ordered one.. well, when this little bobble head girl arrived home, with her eye mechanism (this obsessioned me for a while.. for a period, I spent several minutes before bed, changing her eyes just to relax..it was odd, but I found it soothing!) It was simply love at first sight..her odd proportions intrigued me so much, I bought another one soon after, to try to customize, so I wouldn't have ruined the first I got..she was so strange I loved her with default make up (for a while..then she went under surgery, too !).
Since the first time, I fell deeply in love, not only with the oddity of these dolls, but also with the entire process of customization and all the endless chances to make them all unique and full of a brand new personality!
I am still newbie customizer and I am learning, step by step.. any new doll I make is a new lesson learnt and a new custom experience. I enjoy bringing these girls to life, so much!
I hope the customs you are bringing home will be a concrete proof of all the passion and efforts I put in each of them and that they can represent not only my artistic expression, but a little companion, a plastic soul mate to all of you.
I started making customs around June 2017.
