About

Live an embellished life!

I started this shop because I'm an obsessive creator, and when I run out of things to do and make, I start looking around for the next thing. I was bored of crocheting and chanced upon fabric covered buttons. I figured it was a good way to use up fabric I'd been collecting over the years...

But then it got away from me: embroidered, embellished, embroidered, cashmere, linen, leather oh my! Anything was game for my scissors (thanks, hon, for ripping that lamb leather jacket!) I could hardly wait for that skirt with beaded trim to fall by the wayside.

It got bad, I tell you, bad (when you start stopping strangers and offering them money for that lace dress when they don't want it any more, one needs an intervention) So I started buying fabric, and I haven't stopped. And to justify getting new ones, I have to get rid of the ones I have. Voila! my loss, your gain.

And she who dies with the most fabric wins. Hey, the Egyptians got to be buried with horses, soldiers, possessions (including wives!) I'm not *that* bad!

Embellishedlife2 is run by me, Sharon, a crafty mom of two boys with a room full of fabric, yarn, and goodies which constantly threatens to spill out into the rest of the house. After a day of full-time work and after the kids are asleep, that room is my haven :)

Here you'll find buttons with embellished details like embroidery, sequins, beading, etc. I make each and every button by hand. I visually decide where each design goes, cut each circle/layers myself. Button uses are varied, I keep coming up with new ones every day: magnets, hair accessories, use on clothing, bridal accessories, pillows, jewelry, picture frames, tufted cushions and bedheads, cuff-links, the list goes on. If you look around Etsy you'll find even more uses, we're a talented bunch here!

I also carry fabrics, in scraps, yardages, and 5 x 8 inch sizes. Fabrics include cottons, silks, satins, microsuede, etc and are embroidered, beaded, sequined, just plain textured, adorned in some way and great for all sorts of projects: crazy quilting, sachets, ring pillows, buttons and other small projects, appliques, clutch purses, wallets, the list goes on. My fabric comes from everywhere. I mostly buy local and re-purpose my own clothing and household items (running joke around here is if I can't find a use for it at the end, I'm not buying it!). Antique and vintage fabrics, especially, are lovely and I use/sell them whenever I can. Trims are also a favorite, so many projects, so little time! Tassels, beads, lace, no lack of inspiration for the imagination.

HOW TO PAY
I currently accept credit cards through Paypal (you can pay as a guest of Paypal with no Paypal account) and also through Etsy's Direct Checkout (takes all cc, including the Paypal Debit card). If you're having issues checking out, be sure to let me know.

RESERVES
If you would like to have something reserved (payday, that lottery check, etc), drop me a line and we'll work out the details. I really want you to have what you want.
Shipping
SHIPPING CHARGES
My shipping defaults are set at USPS First Class or Priority International mail. If a shipping upgrade is desired, please contact me prior to buying. If the combined shipping cost qualifies, I automatically upgrade to Priority/Express Mail. If you want it bad enough, I'll try my best to get it to you. I combine shipping for multiple items, and will do so between this and my other stores, "embellishedlife" and "eldupholstery".

Please understand that shipping charges include actual postal charges, plus a small addition for shipping supplies (mailers and baggies) Significant overage above this total cost is promptly refunded.

NOTE : I only ship Priority International to Italy, Brazil and Mexico. Most other international countries ship First Class International. Contact me for a more precise shipping quote.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Custom charges are the responsibility of international buyers. Please be aware of these charges, thresholds and what is allowed in your country before ordering.
UK BUYERS: purchases over £15 can incur VAT of 20% + £8 handling fee from Royal Mail.

International delivery can take anywhere from a week to a month or more, depending on where you are located. Upgraded/expedited shipping with tracking is available and must be paid upfront. Please contact me for details.

I DO NOT LABEL PURCHASES AS A GIFT (unless it is!) It's illegal and can get me a fine of up to $10,000 and/or imprisonment. I'd rather spend that on fabric, trim, twinkling goodies (!), and if I'm locked up you can't get any pretties either, so let's not go there.

SHIP TIME
I usually ship within 24 - 48 hours of your payment , sometimes on the same day.

PACKAGING
Your item is placed in a baggie, and then placed in a secure bubble mailer. While neither rain nor sleet nor snow stops US mail for the most part, it will surely play havoc with your package, so I make sure it is safely packaged.
Refunds and Exchanges
REFUNDS/EXCHANGES
Refunds, minus shipping fees, are available for items returned within 15 days from receipt. Item must be in new and sale-able condition. After 15 days, there is only a store credit/exchange. For exchanges, you are responsible for sending package safely back, and I will pay for resending out new/exchange item.

Communication is the key to a mutually acceptable solution. If you are dissatisfied in any way with your purchase/experience, please contact me and together we will work it out.
Additional policies and FAQs
PRIVACY
Privacy for your purchases is always available. If desired, a generic picture can be listed with the price (s)of the item (s) you are interested in. This service is free of charge, just let me know before-hand. Your information is never shared, sold or otherwise divulged in any way except as may be required by Etsy, Paypal, and/or law.

CUSTOM WORK
Custom work is currently unavailable.

CARE
In general, items with embroidery, sequins, et al should not be machine washed as the agitation will loosen the decorations. Hand-washing, spot-cleaning, steam-cleaning is fine. Dry-cleaning is good too, they will cover the buttons.

SALE OF ITEMS: Items made from my buttons are okay to sell as long as seller does not claim credit for the creation of the button itself.

TUTORIAL: Tutorial is in pdf form and will be sent to the email on record here at Etsy. Please note the tutorial itself (text and images) cannot be copied, transmitted, sold or otherwise reproduced en masse without my permission.

TIPS
While my buttons are intended for general use, here are some suggestions. If using through button-holes, I would suggest getting a smaller size than the size of the button-hole, as I sometimes pad and layer fabrics and that will take up extra space (for eg if your button-hole is 2 inches, get 1 7/8 inches)

There are alternates to button-holes. Use a loop that goes around button, or attach my button to top of item, then put a regular button to underside of item, and use that through a button-hole.Snaps can also be used in place of a regular button.

I am proud to offer a quality product along with impeccable customer service. I am available always for any kind of questions and/or concerns. Please don't hesitate to contact me, and thanks for visiting!
