About

Live an embellished life...

I'm an obsessive crafter who used to cut up my mom's sweaters to make doll clothes (I learned to pick the lock when she started locking the door!)

Life intervened and I stopped. Years later in a legal class, I watched a girl crocheting and thought "I used to do that!" I was pregnant with my first son, and wanted something to help fill the time. At that time (2002), there was no Etsy; I discovered hand-painted and handdyed yarn on Ebay and happily spent a small fortune on luxe yarns. My husband, God bless him for tolerating all this, used to proudly tout and tote my work to his coworkers and was instrumental in helping me to discover that people will pay for what they love (yes, it was a proud shining moment when two secretaries each demanded their own unique Manos del Uruguay scarf as they didn't want to have the same thing!)

From crochet (including a stint teaching crochet and looming at Michaels), to painting on suede and leather clothing, to woodwork, I haven't stopped yet. I have a room full of supplies and am happiest when creating. The possibilities fascinate me, and the opportunity to make something unique keeps me going. Fabric so far seems to keep my interest, especially upholstery. I love textural fabrics and trim. Handmade buttons seem to have also grabbed my roving eye; I happily indulge my wild urges to redo any vintage or new coat, embellish any piece of upholstered furniture or cushion, or figuring out new ways to feature them to my own specs (see my supply shops for those lovelies!)

Living in NYC gives me access to a wonderful array of neighborhoods with all kinds of goodies. I can be found wandering the streets of Manhattan's fabric district and any little store anywhere with interesting trinkets. I strive for different and keep-worthy, in a time of mass-produced and throw-away.

Nothing beats making things with my hands. Well, maybe being by the beach...and tiramisu, key lime pie, Walking Dead... and wine. Especially cheap wine, I don't discriminate. One day I intend to move near the beach, watch, eat and drink said luxuries and make things all day long. All things are possible with the internet (well, except pouring me some wine, and that's what hubby AND a cabana boy is for)

Everything is already made so I ship same or next day. I send small items in a handmade fabric bag, wrapped in tissue and closed with a sticker, with a nice handwritten thank you note. Totally gift-ready, but if you need more embellishment (is there anything as too much?!!) I gift-wrap for free. Just let me know.

Yours in embellishingness (yes, it is too a word!)
Sharon

Accepted payment methods

Payment
At this time, due to site issues I only accept Paypal. Credit cards can be used to pay via PayPal and you don't need to create an account. Please contact me if you have any questions or problems checking out.

RESERVES
If you would like to have something reserved (until payday, windfall, lotto earnings), drop me a line and we'll work out the details. If you're willing to wait for it, I'm willing to wait for you :)
Shipping
Shipping reflects the actual cost of shipping plus a small additional charge for shipping supplies. Significant overages are refunded upon mailing, or feel free to contact me for a more precise shipping quote. I answer rather quickly.

UPGRADE/QUICKER SHIPPING
Please contact me prior to buying if upgraded/quicker shipping options are needed; these incur extra/additional charges that must be pre-paid. If you want it bad enough, I'll try my best to get it to you. I combine shipping for multiple items, and will do so between this and my other stores.

**Please understand that even with express services by the post office, mail still can take 3-4 weeks in international countries due to heightened security measures at customs; courier shipping is available (FEDEX, UPS) but bear in mind that those incur brokerage fees in addition to custom fees.

*NOTE*: Custom charges are the responsibility of international buyers. Please make sure that your country does not restrict import on materials in my items before ordering. I will check on my end also, but I may not know. I don't want you to order something that won't reach you and that might be confiscated and/or destroyed.

PACKAGING
I admit, I'm a fool for frippery. That said, I try to keep it simple: your item is wrapped in tissue paper, placed in a fabric bag, put in a reusable plastic baggie to protect in case the mailer gets wet, and then popped in a secure mailer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Refunds, minus shipping fees, are available for items returned within 15 days from receipt(during the Christmas holidays (November 26 - December 25), items can be returned up until January 15). Item must be in new and unused condition. After 15 days, there is only a store credit/exchange. For exchanges, you are responsible for sending package safely back, and I will pay for resending out new/exchange item. Store credit is good for one year for any item in both of my stores.

Communication is the key to a mutually acceptable solution. If you are dissatisfied in any way with your purchase/experience, please contact me and together we will work it out.
Additional policies and FAQs
GIFT-WRAP
All items are sent gift-ready, in tissue paper and/or a handmade fabric bag. Gift-wrapping is free with purchase upon request.

PRIVACY
Privacy for your purchases is always available. If desired, a generic picture can be listed with the price (s)of the item (s) you are interested in. This service is free of charge, just let me know before-hand. Your information is never shared, sold or otherwise divulged in any way except as may be required by Etsy, Paypal, and/or law.

CARE
All my knit/crochet items should be hand-washed in cool water, squeezed dry (never wring) and lay flat or rolled in a towel to dry. Dry-cleaning is also another option; certain fibers such as chenille should not be dry-cleaned often as it will disintegrate over time. A steamer is the best solution to remove odors. A label accompanies all items with specific care instructions. Eucalan is great for washing wool and wool/blend items, otherwise any gentle or mild soap will do (liquid as opposed to powder, due to using cool water)

I am proud to offer a quality product along with impeccable customer service. I am available always for any kind of questions and/or concerns. Please don't hesitate to contact me, and thanks for visiting!
