Passie voor mooie dingen groeit gewoon niet aan bomen. Het omringt ons en neemt na verloop van tijd het over.
Naarmate de jaren verstrijken, begin je te waarderen wat er dicht bij je staat. Grootmoeders servetten geborduurd met een statig familiemonogram en afgezet met handgemaakt kant waren het begin voor Felix als kleine jongen in Argentinië.
Vanaf 1969 waren er jaren van het ontwerpen van luxe interieurs en het verzamelen van textiel en geborduurde Europese en Aziatische items.
Ondertussen groeide in Mexico een kind dicht bij een kunstenaarsvader terwijl hij zijn grootvader hielp bij het vergulden en restaureren van barokke altaren in xvii-eeuwse kerken.
De liefde voor borduurwerk begon voor Manuel terwijl hij staarde naar glinsterende kerkelijke gewaden die in de sacristieën waren opgeslagen.
Daarna kwamen de vurige folkloristische borduursels uit Oaxaca en Hidalgo met onwaarschijnlijke vogels en bloemen en de hele romantische geschiedenis van traditie en Mexicaanse cultuur.
Later op school, kunst en architectuur carrières terwijl het beheersen van aquarellen.
Tien jaar geleden botsten sterren, werden ideeën uitgewisseld en was 'Embroidery Collection' geboren.
Felix Achenbach en Manuel Lira delen een rode draad die naadloos overgaat in het ontwerpen en produceren van unieke geborduurde collecties in hun studio in de tropische omgeving van Miami.

Passion for beautiful things just does not grow on trees. It surrounds us and in time, takes over.
As the years go by you start appreciating what is close to you. Grandmother's napkins embroidered with a stately family monogram and trimmed with handmade lace were the beginning for Felix as a little boy in Argentina.
From 1969 on were years of designing luxury interiors and collecting textiles and embroidered European and Asian items.
Meanwhile in Mexico, a child grew close to an artist father while helping his grandfather in the gilding and restoring of baroque altars in XVII century churches.
The love for embroidery started for Manuel while gazing on shimmering ecclesiastical vestments stored in the sacristies.
Then came the fiery folkloric embroideries from Oaxaca and Hidalgo with improbable birds and flowers and the whole romantic history of tradition and Mexican culture.
Later on school, art and architecture careers while mastering watercolors.
Ten years ago stars collided, ideas were exchanged and "Embroidery Collection" was born.
Felix Achenbach and Manuel Lira share a common thread that seamlessly flows into designing and producing unique embroidered collections in their studio in Miami's tropical surroundings.
