EmeraldCut | The Introverted Writer

Welcome, I'm a writer with a Master's degree and self-taught jewelry maker. EC | TIW is my line of wire-wrapped jewelry, bookish wedding goods, and professional writing services. My emphasis is on quality and content: a moody depth characterizes my work. A perfectionist, I often spend half an hour observing each creation, making sure it is uniquely "just right." Materials are hand selected; integrity and honesty are of paramount importance. Since 2013, I've offered my writing services exclusively on Etsy. I uphold a writer's ethics and never use writing templates or plagiarize. All shop content is my own.

A one-woman show, I take my job seriously but also love the day-to-day handmade process involved: from designing and creating items, to photographing and listing my work, and to answering convos and sending off packages. I occasionally offer coupon codes, so see my Shop Announcement for details.

I began offering my professional writing services back in 2013 after obtaining a Master's degree. With a theoretical, literary book-length study written, my specialized training and degree provide the client with a well-versed writer who writes without gimmicks (such as cliches) or hype. Never do I plagiarize or use writing templates. Instead, I craft non-replicable content from scratch, resulting in quality content that can be utilized for years to come.

A little about my writing style:
My first autobiography was written at age 8 or 9 on the family typewriter. Since then, I have honed my craft by developing a unique, detailed writing style. Highly attuned to the nuances of the English language, I write clearly with attention to detail. From structure to layout, to content and organization, as well as word choice, my writing imparts a wordsmith's sensibility and an academic's critical eye, allowing for depth and clarity in my writing. See my blog (where I write on a plethora of subjects) for more writing samples: emeraldcut.blogspot.com

Please read my writer's FAQs on my main site here: theintrovertedwriter.com/faqs.html

Conscious consumerism is an integral part of my handmade process. I create mainly pendants, which allows for the option to REUSE existing chains as an alternative to further metal mining. Book page goods are made from upcycled paperbacks for an earth-friendly footprint. My complimentary gift wrapping also festively incorporates upcycled materials. The story behind each of my designs is what makes the product unique, and I try to tell this story in each listing.

My work has been featured on POPSUGAR and Book Riot, incorporated into weddings and other celebratory events, and symbolically served as family jewelry--in addition to daily wear. I'm so thankful for this whirlwind journey, and love hearing from my clients about the significance of my work to them. Thanks for supporting my vision!

Questions are always welcome. More about my work: www.etsy.com/shop/EmeraldCut/policy

USPS shipping prices have risen sharply this year. I currently don't offer insurance for international orders.

You will receive a confirmation convo from me regarding your purchase. If there is a shipping delay, I will notify you prior to sending out your package.

Additional policies and FAQs
Open, professional communication between the buyer and seller is the key to a successful transaction. Keeping a customer posted on their package's whereabouts is very important to me. However, I cannot guarantee how quickly your package will arrive.

Coupon codes are occasionally offered, so check my Shop Announcement for details.

All coupon codes MUST be applied at time of Etsy checkout to be applicable. I cannot apply the coupon for you after purchase. See discount restrictions in my Shop Announcement--misuse of coupon codes will result in order cancellation.

How to apply coupon codes: http://emeraldcut.blogspot.com/2014/11/how-to-apply-coupon-code-on-etsy.html

I employ the following terms for pendant and stone sizing: tiny, small, medium, and large--this jewelry size reference was designed by me for my own creations and is therefore subjective.

TINY: Stone size 4mm and smaller; pendants under 1".
SMALL: Pendants 1"-1.25"; stone size 5-6mm.
MEDIUM: Stone size 7mm-15mm; pendants 1.25"-2".
LARGE: Pendants 2" and longer; stone size 16mm (or 0.6") and up.

PLEASE be gentle with your jewelry. Do not wear your jewelry in the shower, bathtub, or pool, etc., and keep them dry. Also, dry all pieces thoroughly with a soft cloth if you clean them with mild soap and water. Keep your pieces in a securely closed box or airtight baggie/container when you're not wearing them to keep them in good condition.

A reminder: oxidation (plated items, silver) and tarnish (copper and brass) occurs naturally over time.

* Clean jewelry at your own risk. *

Please do not use any chemical cleaners on jewelry from my shop.

Polish only the STERLING SILVER and COPPER items from my shop, as they are non-plated (soft cleaning cloths are also effective). GOLD-PLATED, GOLD-FILLED, and SILVER-PLATED items can be gently cleaned with a soft cloth. To clean ANODIZED (colored) NIOBIUM ear wires, use mild soap and lukewarm water--do not scrub, as it will remove the anodized color. Clean NON-ANODIZED ear wires with alcohol.

DO NOT polish, clean with alcohol, or scrub BRASS--instead, wipe gently with a soft cloth. Remember that all brass WILL tarnish to a dull brown color NATURALLY over time, and requires some care to keep it looking new. Tarnishing will occur faster in humid climates. PLEASE read this for detailed brass jewelry care--

Wipe STONES gently with a soft cloth--keep solvents, chemical cleaners, and all cleaning agents (including ketchup!) AWAY from stones, since they will most likely damage stones.

My NON-BRASS pieces are recommended to be worn by responsible preteens and older (age 11 and up).

Although my brass pieces ARE lead-free and nickel-free (mostly made in the USA), I CANNOT guarantee that brass components are free of traces of lead. I strongly recommend that brass jewelry be worn by ages 14 and up. Do NOT allow children to place brass in their mouth.

Since I use both open and closed JUMP RINGS, I recommend use of a necklace chain with links that are at least 2mm in size (width and/or length) to wear with my pendants.

Shipping costs reflect current USPS rates. International buyers: I pack prints with a piece of cardboard and a water-repellent outer layer---this adds considerable weight (and a higher shipping cost) to your package, but ensures a safer delivery across continents.

If a project takes longer than estimated to complete, such as involving more technical writing or information synthesis than is initially projected, the buyer will be charged an additional fee at ANY TIME I am still working on the piece. This agreed upon additional fee takes into account the time and effort for me to complete the project, and reflects the quality of the writing itself (to which I hold a high standard). I appreciate your understanding.

Your unique ornament is made from a natural, renewable material and should be treated with care. Store in a dry room with good air circulation, and out of sunlight. Keep away from moisture and dampness. If you have a dehumidifier, occasionally operate under proper supervision to help inhibit mold growth. Also, do not place your wood slice in airtight containers, as this may accelerate mold growth.

On occasion, your wood slice may release moisture, causing surface mold to appear. If this occurs, take your slice outdoors and gently use sandpaper to slough off the moldy area.

Packing and gift-wrap materials are reused; bubble mailers are US-made or purchased in bulk. Jewelry items will arrive in recycled wood pulp-derived kraft boxes. Collages/paper goods are created from books and magazines I've collected over the years.

My professional writing and editing services are entirely electronically based, with the final product convo-d to the client in a PDF file.

Argentium sterling silver, which tarnishes less easily than traditional sterling silver, is my wire of choice. I occasionally use plain sterling silver, copper, brass, silver-plated copper, and gold-plated copper wire in my creations. Wire type and jump ring size are noted in each shop listing.

Brass components are certified lead-free and nickel-free by my suppliers, except for vintage brass jewelry.

Natural stones are utilized in my work (except when noted); supplies are purchased via Etsy or independently owned US brick and mortar shops. All decoupage and resin-type materials are designated non-toxic by its manufacturers.

Do not borrow or plagiarize my work, as all plagiarist cases will be pursued and Etsy's legal team notified.

I accept custom orders. Buyers must pay the entire custom listing price, and payment must cleared in full, before I begin creating it.
