Beautiful. Just as described. Excellent quality. On time delivery. Arrived in perfect shape. Would definitely recommend. Just what I wanted for the guest book for my daughter's wedding. Thanks

I changed the covers of this wedding planner to the Ivory and White Lace pattern for a customer. It turned out really pretty!
The lengths I go to for the happiness of the studio mascot. He hates when I punch covers on the table. It's too loud! So I am punching in the floor.
The studio mascot enjoying the sun on the floor while I'm sewing this book.

About

Quality, excellence, and elegance in handmade books.

Bookbinding has been my passion since around 2003 when I was searching for a method to bind my mixed media collage art into a single book. I enjoyed the process so much I couldn't stop making books and my shelves were overflowing! By sharing my work with others through Etsy I have found an excuse to continue making books.

I got started on Etsy thanks to my husband, who saw a magazine article about Etsy and encouraged me to open a shop. I thought that was crazy and no one would want to buy my books, but with his encouragement I did it anyway.

In 2007, I opened my first shop, UberArt, specializing in art journals. My first listing sold within 24 hours and I've been at it ever since!

Through the years I've refined my style and began making wedding guest books. I opened Emerson Bindery in 2009 and have been privileged to provide over 4500 guest books to make my customers' events even more special.

Not only do I work to provide an excellent product, but for me it's also about the customer's experience. I take special care in the details, right down to the packaging.

My work has been published by Lark Books in "Making Mini Books: Big Ideas for 30+ Little Projects".

I also had the pleasure of working with Grammy award winning rock band, The Fray, to create a backstage guest book for their 2009 summer tour. You can view my portfolio at http://www.flickr.com/photos/uberart/

I donate a portion of my shop's income to support Hope for the Warriors which provides programs for service members, veterans, and military families. I also support Reach Recovery, an organization which helps adults battling drug & alcohol dependencies.

I love making books! I am an artist, gardener, mom, and dog lover. I enjoy warm, sunny days on the water when I'm not busy in my studio --which is a rare occasion these days!

  • Mini Me

    Paperwork Organizer

My assistant enjoys organizing my orders by date so I can enter them in my accounting software. He wants to learn bookbinding but I'm going to wait until he's a bit more coordinated using glue and scissors!

  • Bucky

    Studio Mascot And Gatekeeper

My job is to approve all incoming shipments of supplies. UPS and the mail carrier must first pet me before making deliveries. In my downtime, I enjoy lying in patches of warm sunshine in the floor of the studio while my mom makes books.

  • My hubby

    Assistant

My husband learned to sew books to help me fill orders when I injured my hand. He has been a great support, encourager, and visionary. My shop would not be open without him!
