About

Natural materials, transformed by hand.

In 2009 I began teaching myself how to carve. The apple trees in our back garden were planted when the house was built so straight away I had a source of material to experiment with. I started on crochet hooks with a swiss army knife and gradually taught myself, finding my favourite shapes and forms, how to make each hook individual.

After a lot of talking and thinking about it I finally dived in set up my Etsy shop in September 2011. I've been thrilled to receive much generous feedback from my hooks owners and it's satisfying to know they get so much pleasure from them. I'm currently experimenting with other objects (knitting needles, darning needles, buttons, brooches) and techniques like pyrography. The autumn and winter of 2014 has been an exciting time for me, finally getting the chance to sit down and renew my shop!

Welcome to my shop!

At the moment I am updating and expanding the wood carved tools I have available. Please tune in to see what exciting new things I've been making and to see special offers..

Accepted payment methods

Payment
My preferred method of payment is Paypal. Please make your payment at time of order. Orders which are not paid for within 48 hours are considered to have been cancelled.

If you would like to reserve an item in advance please get it touch with me and I can put it on hold for you for up to 5 days.

If you have to cancel an order, would like to delay payment or pay by instalments please get in touch and we can work something out.
Shipping
Shipping is carried out through standard postal routes, with the Irish national postal carrier An Post. Once posted delivery can take up to two weeks according to An Post, although items frequently arrive much sooner than that.

Items are listed at regular shipping costs and can be upgraded to registered post (usually for around €3 more for a crochet hook or similar size item) when you purchase an item.

Customs
Please check the customs regulations in your home country before ordering to make sure your item can enter the country. For example some countries do not allow wood to pass through their customs. Customs responsibilities and charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Goods that prove faulty can be returned, however I cannot be liable for damage which occurs through carelessness on the part of the buyer or damage incurred through uses the item is not suitable for. Proof of faultiness by means of photographs is requested.

***I have no control over any loss of items or damage incurred during shipping, it is my view that responsibility for this lies with the given postal service.***

As such please be aware that I DO NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY for items lost in the post and cannot provide replacements free of charge. If requested I provide receipts as proof of postage. If you want a 100% guarantee of your purchase arriving or being insured in case of loss I urge you to consider the option of registered shipping, which is a little more expensive, but not a lot. Registered shipping insures items up to a value of €35. Purchases worth more than this can be posted seperately to cover their value.

Exchanges will be considered on a case by case basis. Gifts that are not quite what you were after can also be exchanged in their original condition.

Due to the nature of internet shopping and running a one-woman show I cannot cover the cost of return shipping. In the case of an exchange shipping costs are covered by the buyer.

If there is something you're unsure of or not happy about, please do get in touch. I'm happy to discuss it with you and come up with a solution together.

Custom Orders
Due to my college and work committments for the time being I am not taking on any new custom orders. If you would like a specific hook size between 4mm and 12mm that is no problem, please send me a message here and we can have a chat about it.

Intellectual Property
All the items for sale and images you see in my shop are © Emma Kavanagh 2011 - 2016 unless otherwise stated. Please respect the time and love I put into my work by not reproducing anything. If you would like to feature my photography elsewhere please get in touch by pressing the "Contact the Seller" button to get in touch. I am a member of I.V.A.R.O. Reproduction of images is allowed where I am credited as photographer and a link back to my shop is provided.

Liability
Liability for safe use lies with the buyer - I urge everyone to use my creations with common sense.

Offers
I design my offers to be used one at a time per person, per purchase. I always make sure to try give my customers the best offers to take advantage of.

Packaging*
Due to the massive amount of unnecessary packaging that features in our lives now, I firmly believe in using 100% recycled materials when it comes to your wrapping. Packaging will be either recyclable or compostable and always well presented. I hand make my own bags and envelopes from recycled papers and wallpaper and source cardboard boxes and packing paper from my local organic food co-op. If you would like an item specially gift wrapped please let me know in the "Message to seller" box when making your purchase. Rest assured it will be wrapped with great care and security. The safe delivery of the things I make for you to enjoy is very important to me - I'm one of those people who enjoy wrapping Christmas presents!

*Please note the only exception to this rule is in the case of photographic prints. These are sent in "Do Not Bend" envelopes to ensure that they arrive in prime condition.

Smoke/ pets
All my work is made in a smoke and pet free environment.

The item you purchase
The purchase you make refers to the item listed and shown in the photographs unless otherwise stated.
