beautiful Lake District in Cumbria, UK where I live
passion + stitching = beautiful textile art
Once upon a time I discovered the joy of free machine embroidery and now I am creating my life and my living as a textile or fiber artist. I love making textile art using just stitch on dissolvable fabrics, or creating new surfaces by layering or needle felting fabrics then stitching on top to draw shapes or add more texture.
I started making things as a little girl from my mum's Womans Weekly and my Mum taught me to sew, and I just have a passion for all things textile. My fabric stash just keeps growing all by itself...
I also discovered the magic of felting unloved wool jumpers...no longer by accident, and they often feature in my work, either as backgrounds or in the details I apply to a background. Wool is such a versatile medium with which to work.
My ideas and inspiration come from all kinds of places and sometimes I just start working with the fabrics and the process takes me over. Sometimes the ideas then flow so quickly I can't make them all so keep a sketchbook to write them down in.
so my passion for textiles and handmade has led me here...who knows where next!
