It all started with an innocent pin that went terribly, terribly wrong..... (or right!)

Pinterest got me into this! I kept seeing personalized jewelry as I scrolled through items friends had pinned, so I started doing some research on the process. After buying a couple of stamp sets and some basic tools to get started, I launched ErnieBug's in June 2012. Looking back at my first items in the shop, I'm REALLY glad to say that my work has improved with time and practice!!

One of the things I love about personalized jewelry is that it allows me to highlight some of my passions:

I love Jesus, and I am always challenged to come up with pieces that allow the customer to honor their faith.

I love children, so I have quite a few mother's and grandmother's pieces in the shop. There's always something magical about seeing your children's or grandchildren's names permanently imprinted on a piece.

I have a son ("ErnieBug") with autism, and as a therapist I've worked with people with disabilities my whole professional life. I'm a staunch disability advocate, and so some of my pieces celebrate differences and abilities of individuals. I love to help parents, especially, brag on their children who may have autism or Down Syndrome. They are precious gifts!!

And I simply love to be creative! I'm a scrapbooker, a crafter, a musician, and now a jewelry maker, and if I go for very long without doing SOMETHING creative, I get very cranky! So order lots of my pieces and keep me HAPPY!

I'm always open to new designs, and one of the neatest things about being an Etsy merchant is connecting with customers all over the world. If you have an idea for a design and you need help with making it happen, please message me and we'll work on it together. Hearing from YOU is one of my greatest satisfactions!

Hi! My name is Sharon, and I'm the owner, operator, designer, creator, chief cook and bottle washer at ErnieBug's--but the BOSSES are Ernie and Julia! I try to get in the shop every day, and I'm pretty good about staying on top of orders and getting them out quickly, but family does come first. If the kids or my husband need me, the shop takes a back seat. The good news is, I'm a GREAT multi-tasker!

Etsy has a "Custom Order" feature that can be confusing to use. For my purposes, if you want an item customized or personalized (as almost all my items are), simply order the items you want and send the custom info in a note to seller. If I have any questions I will message you back. But just skip over the "Custom" thing and go straight to the horse's mouth. So to speak.

Payment
My shop takes Etsy payment with a credit card as well as PayPal. Gift cards are also accepted. If you have any problems with the payment feature, please let me know and I'll try to help you get to the bottom of it. We do not take personal checks or deferred payment, however.

Your credit card will be charged at the time of your purchase, even though it will likely take me a few days to get it out to you.

Cancellations are only made if 1) I am unable to make an item for you, or 2) if you need to cancel and I have not started to make your item. If your piece is in process, I will be unable to cancel your order.

If I have questions about your order and you do not respond to emails after one week, I will either resort to my default on a piece or cancel the order if I don't have enough information to complete it.
Shipping
I ship USPS, first class parcel to the U.S. and whatever I can get to other countries. If I overcharge you for shipping by more than $1.50, I will refund the overage to your credit card. Keep in mind that my shipping cost is more than what you see on the post mark; I pay for packaging, mailers, business cards, and stationery, which is reflected in your shipping AND HANDLING cost.

If you want insurance on an item, please message me and I will adjust your listing. Otherwise my shipping fees cover basic first class postage and packaging only. A shipping upgrade to USPS Priority is now available for you to choose as you check out and pay. Please note that a shipping upgrade only means that the actual shipping of the item will be faster--it is NOT the same as a RUSH ORDER! I always do my best to get orders out quickly, but I do have a husband, two children, and other obligations to keep in mind.

If you need an item by a certain date, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your request. Please note, though, that POOR TIME MANAGEMENT ON YOUR PART DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN EMERGENCY ON MY PART! If you wait to the last minute, I won't make any promises about my turnaround time or the USPS's ability to deliver when you want it.

*I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LOST OR DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING. All US shipping includes tracking, but if you want insurance, please message me and I will adjust your listing with the additional fee.

*I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING TIME! I ship as soon as items are completed and packaged, but I have no control over how long the Postal Service takes to get your item to you.

**INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: Please allow at least 3 weeks for delivery from the time the package ships. Also, be aware that your package may require additional time to clear customs, depending on your country's regulations. THERE MAY ALSO BE ADDITIONAL CUSTOMS FEES, FOR WHICH YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE. You will need to check the customs policies for your area prior to buying from my shop if there is any question. And as stated above, once an item is in production the sale cannot be cancelled, so please check prior to ordering.
Refunds and Exchanges
ALL SALES ARE FINAL. I'm a small business and simply cannot afford to take items back. If there was a mistake on your piece that was MY FAULT, let me know and I will replace the item at no additional charge to you. *Please note that you will need to send me a photo of the item in question for me to send you a new item.*
Additional policies and FAQs
Because of my faith I reserve the right to refuse custom orders that include profanity or suggestive messages. I will happily refund your full order amount in the event that I cannot produce your item.

On occasion the charms that I use on certain items become unavailable. When I have to use a different charm than what is pictured, rest assured that I have tried to find the original ones! I will always replace them with charms of similar quality that stay true to the theme of the piece.

Keep in mind that with any hand-made item there is a degree of imperfection; if you want it perfect, you may need to go with engraving rather than hand-stamping! But I believe you will be pleased with the quality of my workmanship--and I would never sell you anything that I wouldn't wear myself!

I read email and check the shop page several times daily, so I am very easy to reach. Please feel free to contact me any time regarding an item you'd like to have made or an order you already have in process. I love to hear from you! And if ever there is a problem with an order, let me know and I'll see if there is anything I can do to make it right. I want you to be happy, and I want you to be a repeat customer!
