WOW! Beautifully made bag! The vibrant color and embroidery is lovely. What a joy to know that the Hmong women living in the highlands of Thailand are enjoying recognition for their expertise. I couldn't make up my mind, so I bought two!

It came faster then I thought. More red than pink, like in the photo. I know It says it's red. but still beautiful and nicely made. I like it better than I thought. It really looks so much more pink than red in the photos.

About

We take gorgeous HMONG fabrics and create amazing bags

My family has always been involved in the fair trade business, and when I settled down in Chiang Mai, Thailand I very quickly realized that I had chosen one of the best places in the world to continue what I have always known is my calling as a career. I am a firm believer that if you do what you love, you do not work. I don’t work, because I absolutely love what I’m doing.

Ethnic Lanna is a certified registered company in Thailand, which opened in 2009 when I first met Wichai, a Hmong artisan in the local Hmong market in Chiang Mai. I immediately fell in love with the product his village produces and with him as a person. We have become great friends over the years, recently going on discovery trips together to Laos and China. He inspires me to be a better person and him and his people keep me motivated to make Ethnic Lanna the best Fair Trade company in Thailand.

We started with just myself and my first employee Em 4 years ago and our new office located in the city center of Chiang Mai (we invite you to come visit our showroom) is run by my partner of 2 years, Tomi a Finnish native. We work very closely with over 30 artisans in the North of Thailand and strive to adhere by the principles of fair trade every day.

Our goal for 2014 is to open an office in Mexico and start helping the indigenous communities in my home country. We look forward to you seeing the new products we add from Mexico as we slowly build a foundation that we can build upon.

I hope with our customers’ help that we can continue to make a difference around the world for many years to come!
