Interesting conundrum on how to rate this item because it's rare. Serval issues that potential buyers should be aware. The straps that come with the backpack are subpar when compared to the originals. Strong mildew smell. Describe as top condition the item had wear on the leather along with minor soiling of canvas. I have the original straps so that wasn't a problem. You can order vintage leather Y-straps and modify them to replace the subpar straps. To get rid of mildew smell, place the pack in a plastic bag in the freezer for three hours to kill the spores. Then place the pack in a box with coffee beans or Irish spring soap bars to eliminate the odors. Use a brush with water and a little dawn, followed by a brush with just water to clean the canvas. Let dry and oil the leather. Now it's top notch.

The buyer is of bad faith and plays a double-jeu: as a vintage backpack specialist, i knows that a 60 years old bag can show some wear. The backpack isn't described as NOS or deadstock. On one hand he also knows that he paid a very good price for it regarding the price on the market. So he refused to be refunded. I must add he never contacted me before posting his comment. On the other hand he couldn't help himself but disparage the item. I sold an average of 10 bags here on Etsy and on my personal website and i never received bad report from anybody. My policy is simple and clear: if you aren't happy with your order, i give you full refund.

Exceptionally pleased with my item. Brilliant quality considering it being over 70 years old! Seller was very polite and quick to reply. Delivery was fast and item was well packaged! I look forward to doing business again in the future! Freddie
