From Ashes to Beauty
I taught elementary school for twenty-one years. I thought that would be the whole story. Then hard seasons came that had nothing to do with a classroom, and I learned things no lesson plan ever covered.
I got married on ground that had burned — Gatlinburg, not long after the wildfires, when the hills were still black and the air still held smoke. I remember thinking: this is right. A wedding on scorched earth. I have never fully trusted a story that skips the fire and jumps straight to flowers.
From seasons of pain, devastation, and renewal came the development of EverBloom Faith Collective. I make devotionals, journals, and family resources for women in the space between the fire and the flowers, the ones tired of being told to just trust God and keep moving. Twenty-one years of teaching, and a season as a children's minister after that, shaped how I build things — practical enough to use on a Tuesday, sacred enough to matter on the hard days.
If something in your life has burned, I am not going to tell you it did not. But I have watched ash turn to soil often enough to believe something can still grow here.
