Can't stop buying great vintage clothing

I started wearing and collecting vintage clothing as a punk rock/goth kid of 14. When the movie "Pretty in Pink" came out, my friends started calling me Andie (after Molly Ringwald's character, who has the greatest thrift/DIY style ever!) I basically lived at Salvation Army, Goodwill, flea markets, or anywhere else great vintage clothing could be found. Back then it was cheap and plentiful, now not so much.

After working at my friend's vintage clothing store, I opened my own store, Galaxie Vintage, in Orlando in 1996. After a real estate dispute, I closed and went online, selling on that *other* well-known site on and off since 1998.

I have since lived in NYC, then Germany, where I got my MBA in 2009. I had a full-time day job but could not stop buying fabulous vintage - how could I pass up that perfect dress just because it wasn't my size/style/era? And that huge lot of vintage Playtex bras and girdles, still in the original packages?

So I started this etsy shop in 2011, while I was still working full-time. When I ran out of storage space for these treasures in my apartment (and ran out of patience with my corporate job!), I opened a physical store here in Hannover called galaxievintage, as a tribute to my first shop in the 90s.

The market for vintage clothing certainly has changed a lot since then, but my shopping addiction and need to "rescue" vintage clothing has not.

To my customers and vintage lovers around the world who have supported me - you make the "hunt" worthwhile! I think of you when I am dragging my huge heavy suitcase around a muddy field at a flea market at 5 AM. Thank you from the bottom of my closet!

Thanks for checking out Expatriate Vintage Clothing...and More! My shop features deadstock and NOS vintage clothing, fabric, and other assorted 'treasures' from the US (where I spent most of my life), Europe (where I now live), and other places I visit in my travels. I first fell in love with vintage clothing at age 14, and have been collecting (and sometimes selling) it for over 3 decades.

Now I live in Germany, where I am discovering all the wonderful vintage that Europe has to offer. Check back for new listings, as I always have a big stockpile of exciting items that are patiently waiting to be listed.

I just opened a shop in Hannover Germany called galaxievintage - if you are planning to be in the area, send me a Convo. I would love for you to stop by!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. I really enjoy communicating with other vintage lovers from around the world!

Worldwide, from Hannover Germany. Most items shipped via Deutsche Post Economy Air, with signature required. Requiring the signature is a part of the German postal tracking system so although it might be inconvenient, it enables us to track your package and protects against lost or stolen items.

Heavier or higher-value items may be shipped via DHL.

For express shipping options, please contact me BEFORE purchasing.

Please expect longer shipping times to the US / countries outside the EU during peak times such as Christmas. During the holidays it can take up to a month for a package to reach the West Coast of the US.

Offered for an extra charge, if you request it and if it is available.

Orders will be shipped as soon as possible, within 3 business days of purchase.

You are responsible for paying any customs-related duties or taxes related to your package. I cannot misrepresent customs forms as "gifts" or anything else, as this is illegal. Please be aware of the rules, regulations and fees for your country, as I am unable to accept returns due to high customs duties and fees.

PLEASE make sure your PayPal / Etsy shipping address is correct. I am not responsible for packages shipped to an incorrect address due to buyer error. It is your responsibility to make sure Etsy has your current and correct address on file.

If you are paying via PayPal, I MUST ship to the address you have on file with them in order for everyone to be covered under PayPal's protection plan.

It can be hard to estimate shipping charges for multiple items, due to the cutoff weights for the various shipping options. If you have overpaid by more than a dollar or two, I will happily refund the excess via your original payment method (minus the costs for packing material).

Please be aware that sometimes shipping actually cost more the amount shown on the sticker on your package when it arrives (it does not include extra money I might have paid for insurance, for example).
Refunds and Exchanges
All sales are FINAL, unless I have badly misrepresented an item.

The exception to this is sales to buyers located in the EU. Since I am based in Germany, I must follow the EU's Distance Selling Regulations, which give a buyer 14 days from the time they receive the item, to return it.

Please check the listed measurements very carefully and ask questions if you are not sure if an item will fit you or not, if the color is what you expect, about condition, or anything else, I am happy to answer as soon as I can.

Please let me know if it appears I have made a mistake in the listing or description. In case of misdescribed, damaged or missing items, I will work with you to find a solution.
Additional policies and FAQs
Vintage clothing is gorgeous, wonderful, interesting and fabulous. It is also, well, VINTAGE, meaning at least 30 years old. I will do my best to describe any flaws I see, but please do not expect these items to be comparable to something you buy brand new in H&M or Hollister.

Please keep in mind that sizes on vintage items run much smaller than today's sizes - so a vintage size 14 is much smaller than a modern 14.

I measure all clothing using these measurements:

Bust: From armpit to armpit x2
Waist: From smallest point x2
Hips: From widest point x2
Sleeve: From shoulder seam to end
Shoulder: From seam to seam across back

Please measure an item in your wardrobe that fits you well, and compare with the listed measurements of an item if you are not sure it will fit.

Most items are sold as I found them. I prefer to leave any washing or dry-cleaning up to the discretion of the new owner. Any information about dirt, damage, etc. will be in the item's listing but please ask if anything is unclear.

I am happy to provide additional descriptions, measurements or even extra photos of any of my items, and to answer any questions you may have. I really want you to be happy with your purchase, and to love and appreciate these things as much as I do. Thanks!
