About

School Dress Code Inspires Expressive Ties

As my grandson begins high school at a school which requires a uniform including a dress shirt and tie, I decided to make ties as a form of self expression. The choice of tie is the only area open for individualization. Why not make it a fun choice and optimize the boundaries of expression? This not only created teenage enthusiasm for tie wearing, but offers professionals to share hobbies, interests, as well as political statements as well. Celebrate your patriotism and loyalty to our troops. Wear a card tie to your poker game or a golf tie to your golf game. It is bound to be an ice breaker and start a little conversation as it instantly tells others something about you. Be funny. Share your sense of humor. I am having so much fun using my sewing skills to make something original. I have even thought about memorializing a loved one by creating a tie from a recycled garment belonging to that special person.

Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders from your fabric can be arranged. Cost for custom tie is $15 ($5 less) plus receipt of one yard of suitable fabric which is at least 42-45 inches wide. Quality quilt fabric is my favorite as there is a large variety of prints available. Keep in mind that ties are cut on the bias (diagonally) which affects the angle of the pattern relative to the vertical appearance of the tie. All ties are interfaced giving them additional body. Consider the thickness of the fabric and how well it will tie as well.
