About
If the Mask Fits...
I started Faust & Company in 2011 after I realized that making masks was the right artistic path for me. The idea struck me like lightning one day after having recently decided to leave animation school.
I began scouring the internet and devouring books on the subject of mask making. After trying my hand at papier mache and deciding that it was too time consuming and messy, I began researching products that might best suit my desires for durability, level of detail, non-toxicity, and flexibility. What I found was a casting rubber called "neoprene". It is a latex free rubber that offers many amazing possibilities.
I began sculpting like a madman, making molds from my work, and casting the pieces in this new rubber. When I had enough pieces under my belt to share, I began to sell on Etsy and at festivals on the West Coast of the US. The response was resoundingly positive and I have since built a fantastic shop at my home in Portland, Oregon to carry on my work.
