Announcement
The term "fado" is Gaelic for "in years past" or "what came before". If you happen to be a reader of old Irish fairy tales, you may have seen the word as it is used similar to our English "once upon a time". When I was looking for a name for my second Etsy shop, I saw Fado and knew it was IT! Everything there has come before. And everything in this shop has also come before: upcycled materials, reclaimed buttons, fabric squares made from clothing or fabric found at estate sales, and general de-stash from my growing collection. I love using materials found at estate sales and thrift shops and giving those materials a new life.
This shop is actually an offshoot of my second shop which I opened on Etsy called Fadoware, where I sell unique upcycled clothing including my really popular knit skirts. Check it out and see my reviews at at https://etsy.me/2FsN6Z2
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind yoga bag (yep, I’ve got upcycled bags) or to see even more of my reviews, go to: https://etsy.me/3knvRLS
I thank you for your time as you browse around Fado Reclaimed. I've loved being on Etsy but the best has been working with my customers. I love doing custom orders and would completely enjoy working on something unique just for you. Thank you Etsy for the friendships I've made here.

If you're looking for a particular color of my wool or cashmere squares, a customized slow stitch kit, or certain colors of cotton quilting fabric, please send me convo. As all of my items are reclaimed, there are no guarantees as I'm dependent on what I can find, but I'll try.
How do I source my materials?
Almost everything I sell is either reclaimed or upcycled. I shop at thrift and estate sales and love to give this stuff a second chance. For my slow stitch kits, there may be some items which are not reclaimed such as needles, beads, charms, and certain super cool fabrics I know the kits want but 95-100% of the fabric, ribbon, linens, etc. are all pre-loved. My ties all come from estate sales because who can pass up a cool vintage tie?
How to do I process my wool and fabric squares?
For my recycled squares, 100% of the source materials come from garments I find at thrift stores and estate sales. I wash the garments in using a quality detergent. Wool and cashmere squares are washed and dried on the hottest setting to felt the fabric before cutting into squares.
All squares are cut using a rotary cutter. These are not die cut so there may be some differences in size but it will be barely noticeable.
