Fairy Cardmaker makes handmade cards that maximize visual appeal and minimize mailing bulk. A hand made card allows you to stand out from the bunch so that you can still *be* there even if you can't *go* there.

The cards are blank inside so that you can add your own hand-written message to them before sending. After all, your handwriting is as unique to you as your voice or your fingerprint!

My handmade birthday cards, thinking of you cards, Christmas cards, baby cards, and wedding cards use archival quality papers to ensure your greeting cards will resist the yellowing of time as long as possible.

My handmade cards are destined for the mail. I do not use chunky ribbon bows or excessive layers that bulk up the card, and I keep heavy chipboard pieces to a minimum. Most cards are a standard (North American) mailing sizes. These design choices help you avoid extra postage!

Another specialty in the shop are my paper quilled cards. The quilled creations of today find their roots in Paper Filigree which is the art of making things out of rolled paper. When this art form started, the paper was rolled around a feather quill which created the name paper quilling!

Fairy Cardmaker’s custom paper die cuts are all originally designed paper piecings. You can make your own handmade cards with them or add them to your scrapbook layouts. Paper die cuts can also be used to decorate party banners and other home decor accents. I design and cut these electronically, then piece every one of them together by hand.

All of my designs are hand made in Canada in a smoke-free home.

Next time you’re in a card giving bind, keep your Fairy Cardmaker in mind!

About

Words That Stay

I love writing.
The movie, "The Dark Crystal" featuring Jim Henson muppets, described writing as "words that stay". True indeed. I don't know what it is, but the written word stays with me:
- I remember things better when I write them out;
- I notice how the words look;
- I connect them better in my mind when I read something instead of hear it;
- I can touch it which makes it feel more real;
- I somehow glean a deeper understand from the written word than the spoken word.

I love paper.
I have always played with paper. When I was little, I used paper plates and napkins to make birds. I drew my own paper dolls and covered them with see-through tape so I could design clothes for them and tape them on. I had binders of fashions for my dolls. I wrote cheesy poetry and even cheesier stories. I kept a sketchbook for a short while.

Then I discovered scrapbooking and that lead to card making. I like making cards more because it's all about paper and words. I think physical cards allow people to communicate more meaningfully.

Feel it. Write it. Keep it forever.

Besides, who doesn't love getting "real" mail?! I considered calling my shop Happy Mail, but it was too close to Happy Meal. I love all things fantasy, so, like having a fairy cobbler and a fairy dressmaker and a fairy godmother, I settled on being your Fairy Cardmaker!
