Polish for the Geek in You

Hi! My name is Lynae Zebest, and Fanchromatic Nails is my own personal labor of love. I started it in 2011, officially opened for business in summer 2012, and haven't looked back! I am so happy to share my creative endeavors in color and sparkle with you.

I've always had a love of LOTS of color. The very first article of clothing I ever picked out for myself was a pair of fuchsia stirrup leggings with hot pink roses all over them!

When I was in middle school I became a nail polish hoarder. I had dozens of bottles and changed things up almost every day. I love how polish can pack such a pure, colorful punch into such a small space.

My dad is a big Star Trek fan and I've definitely followed in his footsteps. Ever since I got active on the internet I've been involved in fandom communities, writing and reading fanfic, pop culture analysis, and general squeeing for everything from Buffy to Lord of the Rings to Ghost World to Star Wars. I think I've seen every episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine at least 6 times. Even the bad ones. It's my favorite thing EVER.

In college I started seriously studying ceramics, and, unfortunately, concluded early on that the field just wasn't compatible with nice nails. I trimmed 'em short and forgot about nail polish for a while--but I did use some kickass glazes on my pottery, so I didn't have too much crafty color withdrawal.

Fast forward a few years, when I figured out how to rock pretty fingernails again, and because I am just weird like this, started to get into mixing my own custom polish colors. It kind of consumed my brain. And after watching the full run of ST:DS9 for the zillionth time, I realized I could combine two of my biggest obsessions: polish and fandom.

Thus, the "thing" that would become Fanchromatic Nails was born. I have very sensitive skin, so I'm very conscious about what ingredients our products use, and I'm committed to keeping us a cruelty-free, vegan company, as that just makes good sense.

It's been a pretty weird, geeky road, full of squeeing and epic research and lots of hard work and heartache...but I'm very excited about what I've achieved, and what's to come!
