Fancy Beast is a ceramic sculptor with a frame collection and a love of oddities and beauty in the natural world.

Thanks for visiting my shop! I am a ceramic sculptor based in Washington, DC. I typically create large-scale figurative mixed media sculptures. I started making Fancy Beast frames as a way to illustrate my ideas, try new glazes and explore various textures on a more intimate scale.

Each frame is hand-formed from plaster molds I made of my collection of old Victorian wooden frames. Each one encases unique drawings and relief carvings of flora, fauna, and masked characters. Fancy Beast frames depict a world where eyeballs can grow on trees and children can turn into wolves. They are the pages of an intricate sketchbook, each frame providing a glimpse into a world that is at once imaginary and real.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at them! They can also be found at Trohv Shop in Washington, DC, and Tart in Bozeman, MT.
