I started sewing as a small child, and after learning the basics from my mother and grandmothers I tried various types of sewing and enjoyed them all. I first fell in love with Victorian fashion while at University, when i was asked to costume a play which featured some rather extreme historically inspired outfits. I started googling for images and was blown away by the beauty, elegance and detail of these dresses, made by hand in a time supposedly far less sophisticated than ours.

Since that moment my love has only grown as I've scoured the internet for information, visited museums, taken courses and read books. Sewing is my passion and my relaxation, and although my time is limited as a working mum finding a little time for creativity each day is what keeps me sane.

Each dress I make is first made in plain cotton as I draw, drape and pin to create a pattern. Only when the shape is perfect will I cut into the chosen fabric and sew it together. Many historical dresses are extravagantly decorated, so the final step is to make and apply the finishing touches that takes a dress from good to amazing.

With every historical dress I make I try to become more accurate, and my aim is to use original patterns and designs, beautiful natural fabrics and the best possible workmanship to produce something that makes my heart happy when I look at it - hopefully it will make you happy too!
