Wonderful product! The item took longer than expected to ship, however after I messaged the seller inquiring about it she was very apologetic and informed me why the item was delayed. She then got the item created and shipped to me within that very same week. Overall, even with the shipping delay, I was extremely satisfied with the product and the service of this shop!!

Taking over the world...one cup at a time!

Over the last couple years, my cups have reached people all over the world. It's a real treat to see how I'm not the only one who thinks like me. There's more of us out there, slowly taking over the world. Mwah hahahaha!

I'm generally a person of economy, always trying to find a smarter, cost-effective, yet sustainable way of doing something. Work smarter not harder, as they say. My interest in the green, the local, and the thrifty blossomed when I moved to Indianapolis. I LOVE this city! It brings out so many people who help create a cultural, creative and clean city for everyone to enjoy. My goal is to continue keeping my city pretty by conserving energy, money and precious resources.

Really, it all started as a gift idea. I originally made jewelry with raw crystals and stones. Due to the market being saturated with jewelry designers, I started researching other creative outlets. My first set of mugs was for a couple of friends who were getting married. I don't buy gifts. I make gifts. I found this idea on Pinterest, went down to Goodwill and bought some white mugs. Later I thought, "Hey, maybe I could put these in my Etsy shop with my jewelry?" After some research, I found that there really wasn't anything like my cups in the Etsy market. And as they say, the rest is history!

I'm incredibly grateful for the support I've received through the Etsy community over the years. In the past, making a business from your art meant a lot of legwork for little return. Today, technology makes it possible to expand the market to anyone with internet access. I love that my mugs are being enjoyed by coffee lovers and tea enthusiasts all over the world, and I hope to spread the love for many more years to come!

Cheers, everyone!

// nifty thrifty hand-painted upcycled mugs and teacups

The dark truth about the disposable coffee cup:

:: Americans use about 16 BILLION coffee cups per year? That's over 6 MILLION trees per year.
:: Paper cups generate over 250 MILLION pounds of solid waste per year that is non-biodegradable.
:: 4 BILLION gallons of water are used to produce the paper cup per year.

What can you do? Choose to reuse!

:: Reusable mugs ARE recyclable!
:: Reusable mugs save you money! Coffee shop refills are a fraction of the price!
:: Reusable mugs save trees, water, energy, our ozone, our environment, our world!

My shop uses recycled, reusable mugs and teacups in an effort to reduce waste and saves precious natural resources.

All my listings are made from mugs and cups I find in thrift and discount shops. If a listing is sold out, it means that the listing will renew with the same text, bbut on a different mug.

Since all my mugs are thrift finds, it is rare that I have the same mug that is already listed in my shop. If you would like a custom order with a similar mug, I can help you decide by sending photos of various mugs I have in stock to help you make the right choice!

I check my messages every day through Etsy and email. My policy is to answer your message within 24 hours. Sometimes life can get in the way, but I would greatly appreciate your patience in the case of a longer than normal response time. Much appreciated!

Please realize that my products are thrift finds and may not look exactly like the item's corresponding photos. From shopping online myself, it can be difficult to really understand the piece until you have it in your hands. Fortunately, customers are always more impressed with the pieces themselves rather than the photos.

The OOAK pieces are very durable, but like any artwork, they requires care and kindness. Please do not scratch or scrap artwork with sharp objects or cleaning tools. Hand washing and the dishwasher are acceptable forms of cleaning your mug.

The mug artwork is painted with porcelain paint and is allowed to dry for 72 hours. Once they're dry, they are baked for 30 minutes. Finally, multiple coats of a water-resistant, permanent satin finish is applied to protect and seal the artwork.

Thank you so much for supporting my shop and saving the planet from more pollution. All my best for a happy morning with your nifty, thrifty upcycled mug from Farizula Designs!

Additional policies and FAQs

Q: Are your cups handmade?

A: The designs are all hand-painted, but the cups are all recycled materials. I don't make any of the cups. My mission is to reuse, not consume.

Q: How are your cups dishwasher safe?

A: All the cups I make are designed with porcelain paint, set for 72 hours, and baked. Once they're cooled, multiple layers of water-resistant, permanent satin finish is applied to protect and seal the artwork.

Q: Are they microwave safe?

A: Yes. Same process above maintains paint in the microwave.

Q: I wanted a mug, but it's sold out. How can I get another one?

A: I try to keep most of my mugs listed continually. Please message me with the mug you want, and I'll do my very best to make it happen for you!

Q: How does it take to get a custom mug?

A: Custom orders take about 1-2 weeks to complete and ship.

Q: What are the options for custom orders?

A: Custom means just that - your design, replicated by me. Please send me any ideas, sketches, or photos you'd like on a mug, and we can figure out a great custom mug that fits what you have in mind. I will send you cup options, my sketches and other ideas for your custom mug to make it exactly what you imagined!

Q: What if I like a quote, but not the cup it's on? Can I get another mug with the same quote made?

A: Of course! Message me with your preferences and ideas for a custom mug. Once we can confirm all that, you can purchase the custom listing and include the design details in the notes upon checkout.

Q: Can you add designs to the lip or inside the mug?

A: Unfortunately, no. The paint and varnish are not 100% food safe, which is why I stick to making the design on the outside of the mug.

Q: Do you sell wholesale?

A: YES! I'm still working on getting wholesale items on the "Wholesale" page, but all of my mugs are available for wholesale. Please note that wholesale orders are for specific quotes and artwork. Since my cups are upcycled, the styles, sizes and colors will vary.

Q: Do you sell your cups offline?

A: We appear in some local art festivals and trade shows. You can find our upcoming market appearances on our shop banner. We also sell cups in local, Indianapolis shops such as Homespun, Funkyard Coffee and Enroute Spa.
