Announcement   Welcome to Fat Cat Hats and Sacks!

I design beautiful hats and purses for day and evening, bridal or just dressing up! My style is on the fancy and frilly side as I often work with lovely silk fabrics that I pleat, drape, dye and even burn to create unusual effects. And to add a bit of glitz many of my pieces are embellished with semi-precious stones and hand-hammered gold or sterling silver wire.

Recently I started working with materials that have a more fun and sporty feel and am excited to be making Men's hats as well. And being the lover of oddball vintage things I am also designing many of my newer pieces using recycled materials and found objects...this is my way of being kind and respectful to the environment and all the animals that I love.

Check out my other shop on Etsy called Redo Bijoux where I sell vintage, recycled and handmade supplies for millinery and crafting:

Thanks for looking...

What a beautiful lovely piece of art! The artist was very sweet and helpful! She definitely did everything and so much more to perfectly make the hat for me and to get it delivered in time! The material is beautiful, the details are lovely. It is made definitely with a lot of love and patience for details. So cute, so pretty! I had the greatest experience ever to communicate with the maker, to order and finally to receive this awesome treasure! I TOTALLY LOVELOVELOVE IT!!!

About

SIMPLICITY AND KINDNESS

Those are the things that guide me in everything I do...including my hat-making. I am inspired to create designs that are beautiful because they are simple, elegant and made with a conscience about where my materials come from...my hats are not "BIG"...they are not overly done...they are not mass-produced. I choose materials and techniques that lessen my impact on precious resources and I like to reuse and recycle.

Fat Cat Hats and Sacks was born out of my love for vintage fashion and costumes. I was particularly infatuated with hats...little wearable sculptures...and about 15 years ago I decided to learn how to create them. There were no available classes where I was living at the time so I bought some books and taught myself. I knew instantly that I was meant to be a hat-maker because the work made me beyond happy inside...and each day my progress led to more and more opportunities and hat-making adventures. I hope that you enjoy the work that I do and I would love the chance to create a piece just for you!

Shipping
For orders within the US: I ship all items over $10.00 by Priority Mail through USPS. I offer postal insurance on items priced over $50 (since Priority Mail already covers up to $50)...and the cost of the insurance is included in your shipping charge. For lightweight orders under $10.00 I ship via First Class with tracking otherwise your shipping would cost more than your item but for those willing to pay the added cost I can upgrade to Priority Mail.

For orders outside of the US: I ship all items via First Class with tracking as International Priority Mail is quite expensive but I will offer it for those who want to pay for it...about $40 - $60 depending on the item and where it is going.

I've estimated my shipping charges as best I can prior to actually going to the Post Office...if it turns out the shipping cost is less than what you paid I will refund the difference minus $3.00 (which covers shipping supplies and travel).

A one of a kind item that is already finished at the time I list it in my shop will ship within 3 business days after receiving your payment. A custom item made especially for you will generally take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped...unless we make other arrangements. I offer combined shipping on my smaller items like accessories but prefer to send my hats individually to protect them while they travel through the mail...but I can make exceptions on certain items.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to be happy with your purchase and will accept refunds on UNWORN items only but I need you to contact me within 3 days after receiving your item to arrange the return. On custom orders the refund will be the cost of the item minus 20% to cover some cost of materials for an item I otherwise would not have made. A full refund will be issued on the cost of ready-made items. The original cost to ship the item to you will not be refunded for custom or ready-made orders.
