Announcement   I specialize in handspun yarns, with wool as my favorite fiber choice. At times, I can't bear to let a skein leave my hands and so I work it up into a cap, scarf or shawl for the shop. All accessories are made from my own designs. I'll be uploading inventory as it's available, usually on a weekly basis. It's been a busy year of teaching (Sweden was wonderful!) and writing! With 40 years of experience under my belt, I have taught locally and internationally, and published spinning/weaving articles Yarnmaker, a UK spinning magazine and PLY magazine.

About

Color. I love it!

With a degree in Studio Arts and 40 years playing with textiles in some form, I have participated in exhibits and shows where I earned awards and blue ribbons, worked for years as a production weaver, co-chaired a conference fashion show, then started selling my handspun online, teaching spinning and writing and designing for magazines like Yarnmaker and PLY. Basically I’ve never been very far from fiber no matter what job I’ve held.

I've been teaching handspinning professionally since 2004, although I have recently cut back on teaching commitments to spend more time in my studio. I like to show my students the traditional ways of spinning, and then encourage them to break the rules in whatever ways they can while still creating a stable and useable yarn.

In my spare time, I maintain a vegetable and herb garden, grow fruit trees, wage war with the groundhogs who like my vegetable garden and the deer who like the fruit trees, travel with Husbeast, and hang out in junkyards looking for bits and pieces for my son to weld into interesting things. Oh, and I have a black sheep tattoo and purple hair.

I’m completely addicted to color and fiber and am at my best when in the outdoors enjoying the peace and natural rhythms around me. From these two touchstones I draw the inspiration for my fiber, yarns and finished pieces.

If you're reading this page you must have an addiction to color and wonderous handmade textiles--you're in good company here!! I love COLOR, and using fiber as my art medium (I don't have to clean paintbrushes anymore!). Choosing colors and appropriate fibers, spinning the yarn, handling the yarn as it slips through my fingers on it's way to becoming a cap, scarf or shawl--that's incredibly satisfying to me. I rarely make more than one of a particular color in any style and consider it my duty to enable others to love fiber. Welcome!

From one of my customers: "This yarn is beautiful! You are a wonderful spinster. Most times, the pictures leave me guessing what I'll get, so I'm glad I took the chance with your yarn." I like to help fiberholics expand their horizons and discover what their hands and spirits can create.

I have taught locally and internationally, and published spinning/weaving articles Yarnmaker (a UK spinning magazine) and PLY. I'm a member of Butler Spinners and Weavers Guild and have completed two of the three TKGA Master Knitter levels--some day I'll finish Level 3, when I'm not distracted by colored wool.
