About

"Dream for a living"

"It's a dangerous business Frodo, going out of your door," he used to say. "You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to."

That's how I feel about my shop, I'm not positive that I've been able to keep my feet under me but so far it's been a great journey.

I've been making stuff for as long as I can remember, from snitching fabric scraps from my mom's stash so I could make doll cloths to my first actual sewing project (a pillow!) I was (and still am) a total tomboy growing up and only started wearing skirts as a teenager when I realized that they were really fun to make.

I went to university for a fine arts degree with a concentration of fiber and fashion design were I learned to level up my pattern drafting skills and caught the bug for screen printing. I have continued to do all of my pattern drafting by hand, sometimes even abandoning the many rulers I have because they can't get me the effect I want. I also paint all of my screens by hand with my original designs. A friend of mine makes the frames for my screens and I stretch the screens and paint on the design after that.

Now I work out of my home studio (who needs a master bedroom really?) and that has really cemented my commitment to using only non-toxic, water based inks and dyes. My screens get rinsed out in my tub (which is only a little tye-dyed) and it's important there isn't a negative effect from that. I also only use natural fibers which isn't only a commitment to the environment but also a commitment to you. Natural fibers are easy to care for and amazing to wear. Long story short, if you buy something from me, the ideal outcome is for that product to fit so seamlessly into your life that it brings your day up without imposing on your day.

And remember, "there's a little bit of magic in all of us."

I am a simple geek who loves to make things by hand, the good old fashioned, long and complicated way. I read as much as I can and watch way too much tv (doing things the long way has it's advantages.)
