I live in the wonderful Northeast of the US in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. My father is an avid builder and furniture maker, designing and building numerous beautiful pieces throughout my life. My younger self never expressed a specific interest in building furniture, which I regret considerably at this point. However, my wife loves Pottery Barn and asked if I could make a farmhouse dining room table - I have been making wood shavings ever since.
I procure most of my rough lumber from upstate New York or local wood dealers on Long Island. I am lucky enough to have a significant supply of decade old cherry from property owned within my family until my great grandmother passed away. Aside from the family wood stock pile, I also get supplies from various Mennonite and Amish families in the Adirondack park.
I work out of a small basement shop in my home, typically finishing a new project every month or so. I decided to host a few items on Etsy after multiple requests. I also have a website which I showcase items I have created - www.FerndaleWoodworking.com
