Paper Love
Fiddleheads For Fiona was born from nesting.
I started making colorful animal collages when I was pregnant with my son Emmett. I have been a jewelry designer for years, but there's not a lot you can do with hammered sterling silver when you are decorating a nursery. So I made pink birds, and green deer, and spotted owls. Then I started tearing up old story books and I threw some of them in there too.
Now my collage work is an essential foil to my jewelry work. I love being able to go back and forth between the hard simplicity of metalwork and the bright soft world of decorative paper. And even though running two creative businesses by myself might be considered a little crazy, I find that having both insures that I never get bored, and that neither one ever starts to feel too much like work.
