Announcement   FilzFineFelt creates luxurious fashion accessories and garments for women who care about the world they live in... http://www.finefelt.net

All garments are handmade luxury items, produced with a high level of detail. Many garments are hand embroidered and no item leaves the studio until Filz is completely satisfied with its finish and design. Filz doesn’t make garments to sell, instead Filz aims to maintain a self sustaining business that will allow ongoing creative explorations. Filz endeavours to generate unique and timeless creations which will be viewed as objects of style and beauty, bringing pleasure to all who behold and wear them.

Unless otherwise stated, Filz uses where possible organic wool. The materials are often left in their natural colour, eliminating the need for dyes which is, without a doubt, the most environmental responsible approach. However sometimes dyes are used in the form of low impact acid dyes. Because they do not need a toxic mordant, I prefer these over the natural ones.

The shop is divided into 2 sections: Winter Warm and Summer Cool. The sections, refer to the weight of the garment.

Winter Warm items are thicker and heavier and are ideal for keeping you warm in winter.

Summer Cool garments are usually created using 'nuno felting', a technique for combining a very thin layer of felt with silk fabric. They are light as a feather.
Sometimes they are made from cobweb felt which is very thin, often see through, felted wool.
They are ideal in combination with evening or smart casual wear, protecting you from the cool breeze on summer nights or air conditioned environments.

About

Effortlessly elegant wearable art

Filz was born out of a desire to create. My journey as a felt-maker is one of constant exploration and experimentation and the aim is to maintain a self-sustaining business allowing me to focus on One-Of-A-Kind rather than producing to sell.

I use an ancient technique transforming loose, renewable fibres into fabric with the help of small amounts of water and soap, friction and a lot of elbow grease.

My garments are resources-friendly and energy-efficient to produce and at the end of their life cycle they will effortlessly return to the earth. As a nature-lover and mother, I find this pleasantly reassuring.

As a lover of fashion, I truly believe that every wardrobe should have a few timeless pieces that will continue to 'wow' us for a very long time.
My own favourite pieces are the ones that are quietly unique, comfortable to wear and work easily with the rest of my wardrobe. I call them 'effortlessly elegant' and it forms the basis for all of my creations.

I particularly enjoy taking custom orders and am grateful that 'Etsy' enables me to work in relative isolation (Australia) while still offering a window to the world.

FilzFineFelt creates unique and luxurious fashion accessories and garments for sophisticated women with a conscience... Slow, wholesome and timeless.

All garments are created with a very small ecological footprint by using natural raw materials in a minimally processed state, organic where possible. Water and soap are the only other resource needed and together with a lot of imagination, elbow grease and patience these materials are turned into 'real' slow fashion!
Most of the time the wool gets used in its natural colour, sometimes low impact acid dyes are used. Filz prefers these commercial dyes over natural ones because they do not require a toxic mordant to make the colour stick.

They are ideal in combination with evening or smart casual, wear protecting you from the cool breeze on summer nights or air conditioned environments.
