I have been drawing and painting for most of my life. Portraits/close-ups have always been my favorite subjects, whether it's pets, people, wildlife, flowers or birds. I do still explore other subjects as well such as: seascapes, landscapes, fantasy and spirit paintings.
There is so much that goes into creating who we are; early in life it begins to show up in the way we clothe ourselves, the expressions that we use and the things that we like or dislike. Throughout our life these things change and grow right along with us.
I had several artists in my family when I was growing up. I remember how much I enjoyed watching them take a blank canvas or piece of paper and create something magical. It didn't take me long to pick up a pencil, crayon or whatever I could find to start my own creations.
It always fascinates me to see the differences in an animal or a person's character as time goes on. It's an honor to be able to create portraits for people at different stages in their life (both 2 and 4 legged) and record those changes in a way that family and friends can enjoy for many years.
