Welcome to Fisticuffs Leather!

Fisticuffs Leather was an idea derived many years ago from a need. Once an avid motorbike rider, I looked in vain for a leather piece that would snugly fit where my riding gloves met my motorbike jacket. When I couldn’t find what I wanted, I made a cuff for myself. And then another and another . . . Soon friends wanted some and I began to experiment more with styles. Over time, Fisticuffs became a passion project and a business.
These days, Fisticuffs Leather’s demographic covers everyone from toddlers to fashionistas to the biker I once was. But some things remain the same: All the wearable art is made from reclaimed leather such as belts, bags, and clothing, and all are individually handmade. For customers, this means that you are unlikely to find anyone with the same cuff as you. Some are embellished with found objects such as rivets and washers, and some with leather scraps. Others are more simple, timeless, and classic.

Each is one of a kind.

Frequently asked questions
I see a cuff I like, but it isn’t listed in my size. Do you offer styles in multiple sizes?

As many of the cuffs we produce are one of a kind, you might not see a style listed in multiple sizes. Check back often for new styles, though, as we are always adding new cuffs to the store!

What are the sizes of cuffs available?

We have split the cuffs into categories of SMALL (5 ½ inches to 6 ½ inches), MEDIUM (7 inches to 8 inches), and LARGE (over 8 inches).
Each individual cuff listing will state the exact length of each cuff. The length stated relates to the length from end to end of the bottom piece of leather and does not include the overlap of leather (with the top snap). This makes it easier to match the length of a cuff to the size of your wrist.

How do I know what size I am?

The most accurate way to know your size is to measure with regular tailor’s tape the widest part of your wrist where the cuff is likely to sit. If you don’t have this tape, simply wrap a one-inch-wide* strip of paper around your wrist. Mark the paper where the ends meet and then measure the paper with a ruler using inches.
[*If you are interested in a cuff that is more than an inch in width, use a wider piece of paper and measure at the widest part of your wrist where the cuff is likely to sit.]

How do I clean my leather cuff?

Saddle soap is the best product to use on leather. Check manufacturer directions for use.
Don’t submerge the cuff in water, and never wear the cuff in the ocean (saltwater damages leather).

Should the cuff sit loose or snug on my wrist?

It’s personal preference! Remember, though, that even if the cuff seems a little snug when you first try it on, just like a pair of new leather shoes your cuff will stretch a little with wear.

Where do you get your leather for these cuffs?

Every cuff is made from reclaimed leather. Your cuff may have had a former life as a belt, a purse, or even a baseball mitt. We are committed to creating recycled, sustainable art.
