Announcement Greetings.
My name is Gregory N. For over fifty years I have been
a professional hand weaver creating custom work for
the interior design industry. During these five decades
I have produced numerous very large commissions for
high-end residences throughout the United States -
including the luxurious homes of very wealthy clients
and celebrities.

This is my final year of working with custom orders.
The pieces I am offering in my small shop on Etsy, reflect
my “on the job" training in coloring, design and execution
gained from my many years collaborating with some of
the most talented designers in the trade.

I have always worked with natural fiber yarns - of the highest
quality - silk, cashmere, mohair, rayon and silk chenille, carpet
wool, hemp and more. The stock I offer here are truly done
with attention to detail - not mass-produced , rushed or with
"corners cut". My weaving is refined, pleasantly colored and
made for durability in use.

I am offering a variety of textiles to wear and for use in residential settings. Please spend some time viewing my work - hopefully you will find something which attracts your attention.

( My studio is located in the Hudson Valley overlooking the Catskill Mountains. I am joined in this work by my long-time assistant, Jonah, who intends to carry on the traditions I have worked so many years to evolve.)

A Lifetime of Weaving Luxurious Textiles

Hand weaving has been my life's work for more than forty years. I create beautifully executed handwoven textiles. Most of my work is done to custom order for interior designers and architects - large constructed area rugs and other textiles, all in natural fibers.

My weaving studio is a historic church, built in 1884 in the Hudson Valley of New York. The parishioners, of Irish and German descent, built it from native stone, timber, and brick manufactured at the nearby Kingston brick kilns of the time. The building is solidly built and impressive: spacious high ceilings, views of greenery, the creek below, and sited above a working boatyard where tug boats and barges travel up from the New York City port for renovations and repairs.

The small rugs / runners offered are either small scale versions of some of my very large commissioned work or are designs in progress, many times done at the end of a custom warp. Many of the colors are hand dyed in my dye room using high-quality dyestuffs in a vat dyeing process done at a near boil.

The smaller textiles offered here are my other passion - particularly scarves which I render in the highest quality fibers. My chenille scarves set a very high standard for this yarn with their deep velour hand. There are also silk and cashmere offerings....with more variety to be added over time. My throws exhibit a refinement of skill and coloring rendered in luxurious yarns - many hand dyed in the studio.

Weaver, Assistant, Right-hand Man

Jonah arrived in the studio about thirteen years ago, learned the craft from the bottom-up and is now a very proficient expert weaver. His emphasis is in rug weaving and hand dyeing of yarns.
