Very nice rough - all of the nuggets produced a beautiful cab! (Even got 2 small cabs from one chunk!) Couldn't be any happier with my purchase, and the bonus chrysocolla was a nice surprise!

Welcome to my store!

I find gem cutting to be a relaxing and meditative way to unwind. I have a natural patience and attention to detail, which helps a lot. I also find it very rewarding to create something physical that I can hold, something I don't get to do in my day job.

Just because I'm a hobby cutter doesn't mean that my work is in any way inferior to what you would find in a jewelry or department store. In fact, almost all commercially sold stones are cut overseas by lapidaries who are paid by the carat of finished material. That means that it benefits them to cut their stones as large as possible and as quickly as possible.

This results in designs that are less than ideal, sloppy meetpoints (facet corners that don't intersect correctly), and bad polishing (visible scratches, uneven surfaces, etc.). If you take a close look at almost any commercially cut gem you will be able to see these mistakes with the naked eye.

Although there's an art to gem cutting, even a novice faceter willing to invest the time can regularly produce gems of a higher quality that what you find in department stores or on home shopping channels.

It takes me about 3-6 hours to cut a single stone. I sell some of the stones I cut online to fund my hobby. I hope you find something here that you like, a custom cut gem stone has value beyond the material used to create it, it is a hand made work of art!

Payment
PayPal is preferred, although I will accept checks and money orders as well (may take additional time to process).
Shipping
I will ship all packages through USPS as soon as possible (usually within two days). Packages with value over $200 will be insured, and all packages sent to US destinations will have delivery confirmation with a tracking number. International customs will be handled on a per case basis (some countries can be very difficult to ship jewelry to), but in general tracking, delivery confirmation, and insurance are not available for non-US destinations. For these shipments the buyer assumes all responsibility for items that are lost or damaged in transit.
Refunds and Exchanges
Satisfaction guaranteed! I appreciate that it's difficult to shop for gems and jewelry online, and I will accept returns on any item I sell. I ask that the item be returned in its original packaging within two weeks of receipt. Once I have received the item and verified that it is undamaged, I will refund the purchase price minus shipping costs ($5.00 for US, $10-$15 for other countries).

If you receive an item that has been damaged in transit, I ask that you send me pictures of the condition of the packaging and of the damage. I will refund your full purchase price and use the photos in my claim with the USPS.

I do my best to make sure that every gem I sell is natural and that all treatments are disclosed. Most of the time I do this by buying rough from a few trusted vendors. If I ever sell a stone from a questionable source or have any doubts about its treated status I will volunteer that information in the description. If any testing shows that a stone I sold is not exactly as advertised, I will offer a full refund including shipping.
Additional policies and FAQs
In some cases I can set my stones in pendants, rings, etc. per the buyer's specifications using sterling silver castings.

I can also take custom orders for loose gems. If you see a design you like but want a different material or vice versa, let me know. Some materials can be difficult or prohibitively expensive for me to get, but I will do my best to make the gem you want. Pricing for custom orders will be on a case by case basis and will take at most a month fill once I accept the order.
