Love the star! It is very well made and strong. I have seen many others that are too fragile. I'm happy with this one. Thanks!

I love to design and make stained glass. I love the process. I love the challenge.

I am not your typical stained glass artist. I am not sure if such a thing even exists, but if it did, I would not fit the description. I did not go to art school, I did not grow up in a family of artists, I actually have not taken any stained glass classes ever.

Growing up in a country far-far away I knew I would not become an artist. I have to thank my parents for exposing me to art and art history from a very early age. My father has taught me a lot, from drawing to basic carpentry skills. My mom taught me how to sew, my aunt - how to knit. However, it was always implied that I would follow in my parents' footsteps and become an engineer. And I did not mind that at all - I loved math.

Twenty years later, already in the USA and married, I was working hard on advancing my IT career. I still enjoyed crafting now and then, but could not settle on a medium. One day on a whim I bought a small crate with stained glass at a yard sale. At home I went through it and, in addition to glass, found a book and a few tools. I began to flip through the book and realized that I was in possession of a basic kit, so I actually could follow the instructions. That evening I cut my first pieces of glass, wrapped them in foil and soldered them together. Suddenly I made my first stained glass panel and it came naturally to me.

Glass was the medium I was looking for and I fell in love with it instantly. Perpetually cut and punctured fingers and broken nails could not stop me. Over the next ten years I have learned a lot and eventually started to design my own panels. With practice came an understanding of glass as a medium, and I learned to make less cuts and achieve the effect I desired with cleaner, simpler lines. Now the process of designing and then making a piece gives me a zen-like feeling. With my career and my kids' full schedules I run a crazy race every day, and my workroom is where I rest.

When I found Etsy, it turned out to be the perfect platform for me, because it allowed me to keep my own pace, to make what I was inspired to make, and to offer my ideas to the world. I joined Etsy in December of 2009 and it has been a great experience.

I am a mom, a wife, and a software engineer. And as if this is not enough, I really-really-REALLY enjoy designing and making stained glass.
