It started in a nursery and took flight

Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to be an artist. What I didn't know was what I would make and where I would go. "Up, up and away!" answered my son, a pint-sized airplane fanatic. His interest in all things mechanical and colorful is as contagious as his giggles (and having a daddy who is a pilot didn't hurt either!). As he motivated and I worked, I was lucky to meet other enthusiasts who added ideas and inspiration to fuel the collection. What started in the nurseries of my children and my friends' children, soon grew to incorporate family histories, aviation lineages, commemorative commissions, and more! Art can be our link to our childhood amazement and it can continue to enliven and reflect our future endeavors.

Returns and exchanges
Refunds or replacements may be issued if there is a mistake in my processing the order. Please contact me if the order does not arrive as stated. Unfortunately, I cannot refund custom pieces, however I do my best to work with you throughout the process to make sure you are satisfied with the piece before it is shipped. I cannot cancel an order once it has been shipped.
I currently accept Etsy and Paypal payments.
Payment for custom work is required before work is started.
Your order will be processed in 1-3 business days and should take no more than 10 business days to ship within the United States. Non-US destinations depend on how long it takes to pass through customs and may take up to a month to arrive. Rush shipping may be available for $39.95 (contact me before making a purchase if the option is not readily available on your item).

Prints are shipped flat, sealed in a plastic sleeve, and backed with supportive cardboard. Generally, the shipping rate is based on the parcel size. Small prints (8x10) are shipped USPS First Class, while larger prints are shipped USPS Priority or Ground.

If you are purchasing from a country outside of the United States, please allow up to a month for delivery. Any tracking information will likely only be updated until the parcel leaves the country. From there, delivery time depends largely on the amount of time it takes to pass through customs as well as the local postal service. I'm very sorry I cannot provide more information.
Additional policies and FAQs

Q: I ordered an 8x10" but when it arrived, the paper is 9x11." What happened?
A: Each print includes a 1/2"-1" border around the image to aid in matting. So, the total paper size may be 9x11" even though the printed image is 8x10" (this is not as obvious with so much white surrounding the planes). This border is quite helpful if you are using a mat; the picture doesn't pop through the window of the mat. You may request that no border is included in the comment section of the order in which case it will be cut precisely to the print size. This is useful when directly framing a print without a mat.
**If you already have the prints and would like them trimmed, I can give you my best easy-trim technique - no measuring required: The quickest way is to take the glass from your 8x10 frame and lay it over the print, centering the image how you would like it to appear. Then holding the glass in place, trace around it with a pencil and then trim the print with either scissors or an x-acto knife (you can skip a step by using the x-acto directly against the glass, but it sometimes gives me the nails-on-chalkboard tingle).

Q: Is it possible to have my airplanes/vehicles all facing one direction even if they do not appear that way in the listing?
A: Probably. In most cases, it is possible for me to reverse the direction of the print. Please send me a conversation to check for availability. Note: it is likely that any tail numbering will be omitted in the process.

Q: Can I order any airplane with any tail number/letter I would like?
A: No. The airplanes can be printed with the shown letter or, in most cases, with no tail number/letter at all. Unfortunately, I have not gotten to the point with the digital art to assign any letter to any plane.

Q: Why do some airplanes have propellers while others do not?
A: I work mostly from blueprints of aircraft to attain the correct proportions and generally stick to the depiction in the blueprints whether they have propellers or not. I wish I had a more interesting story!

Q: What is the process for commissioning a new piece?
A: Let's start out with a conversation! An 8x10" profile image on a white background starts at $80. Factors that change the price include size, additional insignia, writing, angle of the vehicle, number of vehicles, background, etc., so it's best to start talking so that we both have a clear idea of the goal. A payment is required before work begins. Minimum production time is a month. For custom works, you get to chose the vehicle, paint scheme, any numbering, direction, and a short byline at the bottom (usually a blurb about the vehicle/aircraft), if you would like. To keep the cost down, I do sell prints of the scanned artwork after it has been sold. However, as part of commissioning a new work, the buyer may receive the original painting.
