My Flor de la Coseche Story!

Short Version:
I started this shop first as a teaching tool for me in order to help my talented sister with a page of her own. Secondly, I had a large collection of vintage cameras since I was a child and wanted to find good homes for them. I also have been using my creative energy on a daily basis & want to share my art with others. Hey, It just seems like fun to me.

Longer version:
I was born in CA in a small town called Visalia. I only have few memories of this town. Mainly of my little neighbor friend who I played mud with. I used to admire his mother's pottery wheel in the back yard. I have a faint memory playing on a step down carpeted living room floor with plastic farm toys. I think I watched my first movie, E.T. in a very cool looking theater downtown. That's all! The rest of my life has been on the move. I spent a lot of my youth and high school years in Novato, Ca (30 mins north of S.F.). I love taking pictures. My brother briefly took a B&W class and I ended up with his wonderful canon film camera in my elementary years. I used the hell out of that camera for a very long time. I remember in my early twenties living in Seattle when I did not have any extra money for film I went around taking pictures with no film inside. Happy as I could be. Yes, that is an addict for you.

* My favorite photographer is Jacob Riis. He took wonderful pictures during the depression. He wrote about this time period especially the social issues.*
I was lucky enough to work at two different German photography studios. I was on the bottom of the totem pole, but I loved it. The first was ICARO studios in Ebersberg, Germany. The second was Tanja Wippenbeck Photo Studio in Coburg. It was a six month learning experience I will never forget. I got to play with a large format camera at the industrial photo studio. It felt like I was working with a historical artifact. I would spend all day working on one picture. Using a medium format camera, I took a picture of a gray plush foot stool for a German furniture catalog! I am a published photographer. I learned Photoshop for the first time with a German version (Thank goodness for ICONS) at the portrait studio. I made very creative "out there" photo albums for wedding couples at Wippenbeck's studio.

I miss the dark room days and I was super fast at loading film in my camera, about as fast as putting a SD card in a slot. Of course, that skill doesn't come as handy anymore. After four years in Seattle, I regrouped in the desert & went back to school (my third at this time). I worked at the school library and this extremely attractive smart goofy man check me out of the library and has never returned me. We had this fast love with each other. I switched my classes to online versions for next semester and went traveling with him for a year. I graduated with an Associates degree in the Arts from Mohave Community College during this time. I worked at the Knoxville Art Museum in TN for awhile before moving on in my tumbleweed lifestyle.

I have landed in Central Texas with my husband, dog (Ginger), and feral cat (Linx).
Lastly, Art is very healing for me in my life journey. I hope to share my creations with others via this shop. Thanks for reading, jen
