About

Fluffy Puppy's Beginning

Fluffy Puppy Quilt Works started when I began making quilts faster than I could figure out what to do with them! I love experimenting with different quilt blocks and designing my own patterns, and of course I love picking out the fabrics!

Free motion quilting is also a passion of mine. Sometimes I sit at the sewing machine for hours. It seemed scary when I first started free motion, but now it feels like doodling on a blank piece of paper. I had never imagined you could doodle with a sewing machine!

The entire design process of a quilt is fun to me. Even the time consuming quilt math and rotary cutting of 200+ quilt squares. I started the Fluffy Puppy Quilt Works blog to not only share my quilting ideas and patterns with other quilters, but also to document all of my projects. That way I could look back on what I have made and read my own old thoughts on every quilt and learn from those old design experiences.

I am always trying new designs, color schemes, and fabric styles. It has been a long time since I have made a quilt from a pattern instead of designing my own!

My shop is named after my Fluffy Puppy who sleeps beside when I design new quilts and write my patterns. Her name is Gouda and you can see her in my About page photos. She loves to sleep on the quilts I made for myself!

I hope you like my designs and find something you like!

I tried quilting a year after I began sewing and then I couldn't stop! Just for fun I write patterns, do lots of quilt math, and design quilts and quilt blocks. Coordinating fabrics is one of the best parts of quilting to me.

Frequently asked questions

Hand or machine quilting?

I quilt my quilts on my home sewing machine, typically by free motion quilting with no computer assistance.

Care instructions

All of my quilts can be machine washed and dried. See listings for temperature details.

How do you make your pattern diagrams? Illustrations, pictures, or computer generated?

All of my patterns have easy to read computer generated diagrams. Some will contain photos in addition to these diagrams to help clarify instructions, or to show a pattern variation option.
