The Evolution of Loyal Vintage
I started my Etsy store on August 24, 2011 (coincidentally, my mother's birthday) because I have a problem. I am fiercely addicted to vintage fashion, which would be fine, if only my closet were the size of a small bedroom.
I thought "Hey! I can sell some things online to make room for more!"
So I decided on the name Fly Around Pretty Miss, which comes from one of my favorite traditional folk songs, & starting listing!
What I didn't realize at the time was how addicted I would get. The thrill of a sale, the process of artful packaging, practicing my photography, the gratitude for positive feedback, & of course, shopping for new merchandise quickly became my new outlet for creative expression.
About 2 years after starting Fly Around Pretty Miss, I realized that I had to make this into a career. I had been a restaurant manager for about the same amount of time and was at the end of my rope, physically and emotionally. I don't remember when I became enthralled with the idea of a mobile vintage boutique...but the thought of it had been tugging at my heart and mind for some time.
In December 2012, I began trolling Craigslist for the perfect vintage school bus and to my surprise, I found one right away! A 1991 Ford Econoline in the most perfect condition.
I immediately made the necessary moves to purchase the bus, and by January, she was mine.
It wasn't until 4 months later that I realized there was no way I was going to make my dream a reality unless I quit my full time management position. As I nervously put in my notice, I had no idea that this decision would be one of the best I'd ever made.
The first thing on my to-do list was to find a new name for the shop, one that would be easier to remember than Fly Around Pretty Miss. I knew I wanted a name that would honor my amazing grandmother ("Oma") and mother, who had instilled my vintage passion as a little girl.
Over dinner with friends one night, we milled over ideas surrounding the ranch that my grandparents once owned in Loyal Valley, TX - a magical place I often heard about as a child where my grandparents spent the beginning of their retirement, but sold before I was born. At the same moment, two of my best friends (both amazing graphic designers) looked at each other and shouted "LOYAL. JUST LOYAL."
And as they say, the rest is history.

If reserving an item, payment is required within 24 hours, unless we have personally agreed on another time frame.
Within the U.S. we ship Priority Mail (2-3 days), and occasionally First Class (2-5 days) or Parcel Select (2-9 days), depending on the size and weight of certain items. Priority Mail shipping comes with a tracking number that will be sent to you upon shipment. First Class and Parcel Select do not come with tracking information.
For expedited shipping or insurance, message us directly and we'll be glad to make that happen.
Outside of the U.S. we ship First Class. This service can sometimes take up to 4-6 weeks for delivery. A customs number will be provided, but that does not guarantee tracking information once the parcel leaves the U.S.
If a package is lost or damaged by the post, we assume no responsibility. Contact your local post office with the tracking or customs number to find out information on a lost or damaged package.
If a package is returned to us, we will contact you. You will be responsible for payment for re-shipment.
Refunds and Exchanges
We will consider refunds on items that are grossly misrepresented in terms of condition, sizing, etc. We ask you to please message us directly before leaving feedback, and that you do so within one week of purchase. After one week, the sale will be considered final regardless.
