About

Employment for young adults with autism

This jewelry line was created initially to give my son John a hobby and a purpose.

Nearly 80% of adults with autism are unemployed and research suggests there is very little data on what they do after their school years. Something has to change right? While they are in school, programs are available such as, workability training, in which they work in the community. However, when they turn 22, they age out of the school system and lose workability services, including their beloved jobs, as there are other students in line for their position. Some will age out and enter a day program, very few will find employment opportunities, and others will sit home with a caregiver or respite worker.

The need for employment among the special needs population is huge. Employment is especially scarce however, among young adults with autism. We are fundraising for a location to open an employment program where our clients will run a consignment store and community job line that will give them the opportunity to try different skillsets. For now, our home is our base. You can read about our mission/vision on our website at www.flybrave.org.

Your purchase says you believe in us too. We are so grateful.

I am not an expert on autism, I'm just an autism mom with a huge dream in making a way for my son and others like him to have purpose in this big world. We were born to do more than just exist. Autism Pride!

This is my son John aka John John. He is 22, non-verbal and has autism. He finds purpose and joy in creating jewelry. He also loves to run and runs a 5 minute mile with a wall of gold medals from The Special Olympics to prove it. Fly Brave!
