About ForwardPottery

Artist seen here about to lose her glasses to a rebellious pillow.
Throwing pottery since the age of 12 and hoping to continue till I’m 112.
Due to my incredible customers and the support of my wonderful family, I was able to leave my day job this year so I can work on pottery full time! Apart from playing with mud, I take care of my family, my home, and my totally-not-weird number of cats. We live in mostly beautiful, but sometimes unbearably cold, Wisconsin.
I started throwing pottery on the wheel around the age of 12. I was a pretty active kid before that, participating in soccer, downhill skiing, and dance, but I started to have problems with my knees and it quickly became clear that I could not continue with my hobbies. No doubt my parents were terrified at the prospect of having a sullen teenage girl with no outlets living in their home, so they found a production pottery studio an hour away that offered evening classes.
I continued to take classes off and on through adulthood, as time and income allowed, until my husband set aside enough extra money and encouraged me to buy a wheel and kiln of my own.
Nowadays, I love to throw pots that are fun, functional, and just gosh-darn pretty. I tend to get a little silly in an effort to promote positivity and optimism, just check out some of the glaze names in my descriptions, art doesn’t always have to be serious. 😁
