Depois de se mudar de uma área urbana para os subúrbios e depois para a floresta, a FoundKept começou como um amor recém-descoberto pela cor das folhas de outono, uma apreciação pelas flores silvestres que duram apenas um dia e o detalhe delicado que as folhas mais pequenas da natureza têm a oferecer. Armado com uma pequena caixa rotulada com um sharpie como "BOX OF TREASURES" e um par de pinças, as caminhadas diárias pela natureza envolveriam a coleta de belos, minúsculos e intrincados pedaços de folhas e flores. Foi emocionante encontrar esses pequenos presentes e, embora inicialmente não houvesse nenhum plano para eles a não ser admirá-los, preservá-los era a única opção.

Ao mesmo tempo, eu estava experimentando com arte de resina, mas não era impressionante aquele acorde artístico em mim que eu esperava que fosse. Eu adorava trabalhar com resina, mas o médium não estava certo. Eventualmente, eu coloquei dois e dois juntos quando eu pressionei flores de um buquê de casamento da minha melhor amiga e dei de volta para ela na forma de um colar. De repente, todas as peças estavam se juntando, e isso provocou uma enxurrada de novos itens que construiriam a fundação para a FoundKept Jewely.

E isso nos leva ao hoje - onde os belos compradores etsy que pousam nesta pequena fatia da internet podem reunir um pouco dessa natureza mágica para ele ou para si mesmo. Quando você considera que as flores em seus brincos ou colar só floresceram uma vez, e nunca teriam sido vistas pelos olhos de outras se não fosse por ser preservada, ou que a clorofila em uma folha teria desaparecido e voltado para o solo, em vez de ser um pedaço precioso da natureza que sua compra ajudou a destacar - bem, Meu Deus, parece que todos nós deveríamos estar carregando em torno de nossa própria caixa para coletar os tesouros do mundo (ou pelo menos aqueles que podem caber em uma caixa)!

After moving from an urban area to the suburbs and then to the forest, FoundKept began as a newfound love for the color of fall leaves, an appreciation for the wildflowers that last only a day, and the delicate detail that nature's tiniest leaves have to offer. Armed with a small box labelled with a sharpie as "BOX OF TREASURES" and a pair of tweezers, daily nature walks would involve collecting beautiful, tiny, intricate pieces of leaves and flowers. It was exhilarating to find these small gifts, and although initially there was no plan for them but to admire them, preserving them was the only option.

At the same time, I was experimenting with resin-pour art but it wasn't striking that artistic chord in me that I had hoped it would. I loved working with resin, but the medium wasn't quite right. Eventually, I put two-and-two together when I pressed flowers from one of my best friend's wedding bouquet and gifted it back to her in the form of a necklace. Suddenly, all of the pieces were coming together, and it sparked a flurry of new items that would build the foundation for FoundKept Jewelry.

And that brings us to today - where the beautiful Etsy shoppers that land on this little slice of the internet can gather up some of that magical nature for him or herself. When you consider that the flowers in your earrings or necklace only bloomed once, and would never have been seen by another's eyes if it weren't for being preserved, or that the chlorophyll in a leaf would have faded and turned back to soil, rather than being a treasured piece of nature that your purchase helped to spotlight - well, goodness, it would seem we should all be carrying around our own box to collect the world's treasures (or at least the ones that can fit in a box)!
