One of my favorite custom Etsy orders of all time! Raun responded to my questions within minutes and I received the frame within a week after ordering. Colors and style were exactly what I was looking for, and quality is top notch. Will definitely be ordering from here again. Thank you!!!

Yeah, we do that!

Raun Meyn’s aesthetic and picker spirit led him directly to reclaimed building materials. With over 15 years of custom framing experience and a passion for making, he started his own line of salvaged wood frames and custom furniture in 2008 and called it FoundRe.

FoundRe thrives on the creative connection between the maker and the client. Here, you get to be a part of the process. We have plenty of salvage material to choose from, and you can feel free to bring your own nostalgic materials, too. You can have a frame or piece of furniture made just for you—a picture framed with your family farm's barn wood or a kitchen table made to fit exactly in your new home’s nook.

We make beds, tables, desks, credenzas, media cabinets, bookcases, dining tables, sofa tables, dressers, night stands, shelving units, mantels, cabinets, built-ins, storage systems—you can think it, we can build it.

We create standard and custom reclaimed frames as well as a variety of furniture and home goods.

Every piece of furniture or framing we create is treated like a work of art. We take pride in providing quality reclaimed furniture, with a focus on detail and design.

The material we use is sourced locally from deconstruction projects in Chicago. We use primarily old growth lumber found in the original construction of many historic Chicago buildings.

We love to create custom reclaimed furniture. It gives us the opportunity to explore creative design concepts and make truly one of a kind furniture pieces.

- Where do you get your material?

: We have developed contacts over the years in the contraction and demolition industry and we have access to different resources for salvaged and reclaimed wood. But, we also have no problem jumping into a dumpster behind a building project and pulling out the best scraps we can find.

- Are there any harmful elements in the material such as lead or mold?

: We take careful consideration when working with this material to not expose ourselves and our customers to any harmful elements that might be in the paint or wood itself. Every frame and product we make is cleaned with a special lead dust removing agent and thoroughly sealed with a clear coat to protect the surface and prevent further decay. Regardless of our cleaning and sealing efforts, we recommend not ingesting your picture frames or other Foundre products.

- Is the material sealed?

: We take extra pro caution when it comes to sealing all of our frames and furniture. Every product is throughly cleaned and then sealed with a high quality finish to not only protect the material, but to seal in any loose or harmful debris that may still be on the surface.

- What is the material?

: We use a variety of different reclaimed wood including, house doors, trim, molding, floor boards, beams, and joists.

- How long has Foundre been around?

: Foundre started in a two car garage in north Chicago summer of 2008 and has been going strong ever sense.

- Whats the turn around on a custom order?

: For custom picture frames your order will be ready to ship within two weeks. For custom furniture orders, we require 4-6 weeks for completion.
