A little about us!

We are a mother/daughter team who have survived many of life's trials through faith and each other. We enjoy quilting and sewing together and sharing that with others. We love finding new patterns for quilts, bags, and fun household projects to make, then pass these ideas onto other sewists. About 98% of the items in our shop are projects for you to make with a little added inspiration from yourself, and maybe a litttle extra help from social media sites 😉.

Athena (aka Mom) started FourWinds Traders when she "retired" from her regular job, but wanted to continue to do her hobbies of quilting and sewing. In doing so, she found that the cost was rather high. This prompted her to come up with starting a shop of her own, but offering items at discounted prices to her fellow quilters and sewists.

Recently Tamara, like so many of us in the age of COVID, needed to be closer to home for family. So, Mom and Daughter decided to team up. We hope to be able to provide more inspiration to our customers through some projects of our own, and sharing the joy of making something from the heart to the next generation.

I first learned quilting from my Grandmother, who sat in the evenings piecing quilts by hand. I love everything sewing & quilting. Thank you for stopping by! Have a cup of tea and take some time to browse through my lovely things.

I watched and learned as Mom (Athena) made me costumes and dresses for my many school activities. Now that I have my own daughter, Mom and I are passing on the love of sewing and creating to the next generation, as I hope so many others will.

Frequently asked questions
Do you accept PayPal payments?

Yes! We accept PayPal. If the radio button for payment using PayPal is not working or not available, please send us a message of what you would like to purchase and your PayPal email address. We will be happy to send you a custom invoice directly from PayPal for your items. We are in the process of working with Etsy to remedy this issue with our store. Thank you for your business!

Fabric Instructions

Our fabrics come directly from the manufacturer and are not pre-washed. If you are new to working with pre-cut fabrics, the manufactures recommend that they not be washed until your whole project is complete. If you want/need to be able to pre-wash the fabric, we would recommend yardage for your project.

Free Shipping Offer

To be able to apply the free shipping to your purchase, your cart total (after discounts) must be at least $35.

When you receive Free Shipping, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT to ship all items in a manner that your purchase qualifies for and in keeping with good business practices, regardless if you have been offered or selected Priority by Etsy. Etsy shipping is not always accurate on weights and sizes when items of different postal requirements are taken into consideration.

Shipping Cost and Package Tracking

Due to heavy losses on the part of the Post Office, most orders are shipped with tracking. This does incur an extra cost as these items must be sent at the package rate. When your order goes out, you will receive an email advising you of the date of mailing and it will have the tracking number in it. This number is also noted on Etsy under your order details.

NOTE: Even with tracking, the Post Office can lose a package or letter. If you do not receive your order within a reasonable length of time (generally 5-10 days for US orders, significantly longer for international shipping 2-6 weeks), please let me know so I can contact the Post Office and they should be able to trace it for us.

Can you send a pattern via PDF or download?

As much as we would like to offer this, none of our patterns are available via PDF as the designers of our patterns have retained the copyrights for their work. All of our patterns are physical pattens which will be shipped to you via USPS or by international shipping. If you are looking for a PDF pattern, we would recommend reaching out to the designer directly to ensure they get credit for their work.

Are these fabrics COLORFAST?

No matter what type fabric you get, you cannot assume that anything is colorfast and will not run or bleed. This can be a nightmare when you have spent a lot of money for beautiful fabric, only to have your project or quilt ruined because of bleeding issues. In order to make many dark colors vibrant, manufacturers have to use a lot of dye. The more dye, the greater the propensity the fabric has to bleed. If you have questions about the colorfastness of a fabric, please test it first. You may have to pre-treat the fabric to better "set" the dye. Even then, it may not be enough and you may have to re-think your project and the fabrics you use. Either way, I will not be responsible for its colorfastness, nor will I replace your fabrics
