Sue - Got the note cards today - wow you are fast! The note cards are fantastic! You are fantastic! The card print really captures the 'feel' of your collage. n nWe can't wait to use the cards for the rehearsal dinner invitations - we know all will love the cards and frame them as keepsakes from the wedding! (We framed one already) n nregards, Mary & Chris

About

Say it with Shadow puppets!

I first started making shadow puppets about 10 years ago when my Sunday School class of 4th-7th graders was clearly bored listening to me talk. I went home and researched puppetry. Buying a set of expensive Bible puppets did not appeal to me, so I cut out Jonah, a whale, a boat, etc., from cereal boxes. I made a small theatre from a Fedex box. By the following week I had my students' attention.

While most kids enjoy watching a puppet show, I have found that having them perform the puppet show themselves is a much better way to engage older elementary/middle school aged kids with the story.

Over the years, I have made shadow puppets for several Bible stories, folk tales and children's songs. I have also put on workshops where I perform a puppet show and provide materials so the children in the audience can make their own characters and then perform for everyone.

I don't offer shadow theatres on Etsy, since they are so simple to make from cardboard and freezer paper. A free tutorial is on my blog at www.foxesridge.blogspot.com. There are also free puppet patterns if you want to try cutting out some puppets.
