I'm pretty sure Buttery goes with everything. Which combo strikes your fancy - Grouchy, Blue Steel, or Cedar Shadows?
I love finding little friends while foraging for dyes - there's plenty of yarn in the shop, with fresh colors coming soon!

About

Creating fantastic fibers colored with locally harvested, natural dyes.

Located in Great Bend, Kansas, Foxtrot Fibers specializes in locally harvested natural dyes. I grow or gather all of the dye stuffs used on my yarns, whether from my own garden or the Kansas prairies. Bright wildflowers, leaves with secrets, juicy berries, there is a whole world of color hidden around us – exploring and discovering those colors to share with others is my passion.

I decided to start Foxtrot Fibers when I realized that there were few indie dyers working with locally gathered plant materials. There’s a lot of great natural dye stuffs available online, but for me, the connection to the land that comes when you’re out in the fields simply can’t be matched. Here in Central Kansas there’s an incredible variety of dye plants available, and it seemed a shame not to share them with fiber lovers around the world.

I’m the proprietor and dyer here at Foxtrot Fibers. I stumbled into natural dyeing as part of my day job as an environmental educator. In 2014, I got the bright idea to do a natural dyeing workshop, and my passion for dyeing has grown ever since!

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

If you're interested in larger yarn amounts than our normal small dyelots, get in touch with me and I'll be happy to work out a larger batch just for you. Large dyelots may take a significant amount of time depending on yarn availability, and most colors are only available seasonally.

Care instructions

I recommend hand washing your finished projects in cool water with a gentle wool wash, and keeping them out of direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Any color will fade if exposed to direct sunlight, but some natural dyes may be more prone to fading.
