Announcement   Am on a crusade to change the world with a few balls of yarn.

Goodbye Etsy!
I am no longer selling on etsy. I will continue to support etsy sellers.
If you are interested in an item of mine that you have seen on here, or if you are curious about what new items I have available, please message me. I will gladly place an item on reserve for you.

I am continuing (off of etsy) my charity lines, supporting organizations that I have worked with in the US and Indonesia. I can't be everywhere at once to donate my time, but when it's time for me to leave, I like to remain connected with balls of yarn!

All items are original, one of a kind and handmade by me, just me! No machines, no mass production!

A special thanks to http://www.bertorama.com/ for the Indonesia photos!

About

This is what I do... that's all.

I started knitting in my mid 20's, as a response to a quarter life crisis. I kept it going, pretty simply; the scarf and hat maker eternal. Then I quit smoking. Knitting keeps my hands busy and my mind off of cigarettes, so I became obsessive about knitting. I started carrying it everywhere (yes, I knit at dance parties. I am THAT girl). One day I woke up in a giant pile of shawls and scarves and hats and sweaters and socks and leg warmers and stuffed animals... oh my! Time to start selling them to support my new habit! Yarn!

A few years later, I ran away to Indonesia. I spent two years living there, teaching and learning. There I started working with a few individuals who worked really hard to build organizations that do good work. I did my best to work with them, and then I realized how just a little bit of money can go so far to help folks in a country with a low cost of living. You would be sooo surprised to learn what $50 can do! It can literally save a life! I am still connected with those organizations and I would like some of my work to go to help them. Those items are clearly marked as part of the charity that they go to support.

My shop is still small, I LOVE my day job and don't want to quit it, but I do want to keep being able to support my yarn habit as well as do what I can to donate my time to help the wonderful folks that I meet along the way.

I'm a bit twee and I think that's hilarious. I knit shawls at dance parties and teach toddlers how to make mittens on long bus rides. I love kittens and puppies. I bake and I cook. I'm not a crafter, but I am a teacher.

All of my goods are hand knit from the finest materials available. Many of the buttons are hunted and collected antique pieces, works of art in their own right. If it's not fun to make, I don't make it. These days I'm finding so much fun in knitting and button collecting that I am making too much for my own use which is why I started this store. My goal is that you have as much fun wearing these items as I did making them.

for the record: I use only the absolute best yarn ever. No joke. Primo sh*t here. Most of it is unprocessed and dyed using only sustainable methods, if it's dyed at all. Eco friendly and the sheep and alpacas are read Nancy Mitford novels every night while selected works of Verdi are played in the background. This produces the softest, most sympathetic and good humored wool that you can imagine.*

*I lie. I am the one that reads the Nancy Mitford novels and listens to Verdi while knitting them. But I really only use the best. It's like paying for a PBR and getting a Dogfish Head 120 minute instead.
