About

The settings and compositions surrender to an emotion connected to a specific moment of light

I have driven over 100,000 miles throughout my country, Italy, and the images are engraved in my mind. The canvas captures and holds fond thoughts of color, light and the way the air smelled that day.
When I was a boy I saw paintings of Cezanne and Van Gogh and asked my Dad if we could have one. He chuckled and let me know that they had to stay in the museum. So I went home and thought, well if I can't buy one then I'll make one myself. So I started studying the masters and their techniques. I learned many things observing Sisley and Monet paintings and their amazing accuracy and use of light.

Since my recent move to the United States I've pursued being an artist with intensified enthusiasm. Living here I noticed how different the colors in the sky and the diffusion of light are from my homeland. I try to capture that in my intimate paintings of Italy, not your run of the mill calendar image of Ponte Vecchio or the Colosseum but the land I know, love and lived.
Where I paint... I have a big old oak teachers desk and a couple easels situated in a brick carriage house with two large windows looking out onto my wife's mini garden.
I like knowing when one of my paintings goes to a good home and will be enjoyed by people who love it as I do.

Many of my paintings are inspired by the color and beauty of what nature offers us every day. I always begin a new piece with what nature offers me and infuse my sentiment into the paint and onto the canvas.
