About FringeVintageShoppe

Fringe: edgy; exceptional; unique

Having an Etsy store meshes my love of pop culture, treasure hunting and fashion. I'm a professional writer and Etsy is a tangible outlet for my creativity.

My hardcover book "Fringe Florida" is a journey into the heart of unconventional lifestyles that I call "Fringe." See the theme here?

My shop provides the components for individualized looks, if not unconventional ones. My taste spans the decades, which is reflected in the eclectic mix of items you will find here. I enjoy creating new looks from a mixture of old ones.

I prefer the romance of the old to hollowness of new. A vintage locket can take me back to WWII; a flashy, a metallic blouse plants me in Studio 54. A 1960s wiggle dress isn't just a sexy dress; a Vera scarf, not just a pretty piece of silk. A vintage item's design, materials and origin reflect the culture of its time.

OK. I'm prone to vacationing in a little fantasy as well as nerdsville when researching my finds. Slap me, and call me Gertrude. Just don't break my Pyrex bowl. I need it to wash a 1950s slip.

I'm a Florida journalist/author and hunter of just about everything vintage outside of tractors and lawnmowers. Vintage jewelry, clothing and scarves are my specialties, but I can't pass up a treasure that I can fit in my car. I also take requests.

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details

Items may appear larger to show details. Please go by measurements and compare to similar item you own for best fit estimate.

Vintage clothing sizes tend to run smaller than modern sizes and even modern sizes vary by manufacturer. So, size estimates are just that, estimates.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I gift wrap for free upon request.

Item Condition

Unless specifically noted that an item is only for display or for repair, all items are in wearable condition.

I clean jewelry, but leave patina on sterling as some customers prefer. Please note that vintage items are pre-loved and typically show some signs of that love even if it’s wear to the underside of a jewelry clasp, or loose strings. But also know that even with minor flaws, vintage items are usually higher quality than what you can find new in stores today.

Shipping Costs and Options

Any item over 1 pound automatically ships USPS Priority in the U.S. which includes $100 in insurance. If you prefer Priority Shipping for lighter item, please select that option.

Seller is not responsible for Postal system delays, damage that may occur during USPS transit or after it has been delivered, but will assist in getting info from Postal system.

Returns

I accept returns and will issue refunds with these conditions:
-must contact to initiate return within 3 days of receipt or within 5 days after Christmas for holiday gift items.
- Item must be in condition it was shipped
- tags must still be attached to clothing
- buyer pays all shipping costs

Seller retains the right to charge a 10% restocking fee on returned items.

Where is my item?

Buyer will receive a message with tracking number when postage is purchased. You can watch its progression and anticipate delivery times. USPS also allows customers to monitor mail more closely by signing up to free account that allows you to see photos of your mail prior to delivery and give instructions on where to leave packages.
I use USPS First Class for items under 1 pound which can take a week domestic depending on distance. USPS Priority Mail almost always arrives within 3 days though USPS does not guarantee.

Layaway

I only offer layaway on items more than $200. Buyer must pay 25% down and an additional 25% every two weeks until item is fully paid. Failure to meet payment deadlines results in forfeiture of deposit. No exceptions.
